Brooks is an idiot.
There aren’t more Is than Ds or Rs. There never have been. At least not when it comes time to vote. People may say they’re independent during the year, but Is never exceed either party on actualy election day exit polls.
Also, McCain winning in SC had nothing to do with Rush or Levin or Beck. As far as I recall they never really jumped behind anyone until the FL primary and by then it was too late and their only hope was a fake conservative like Romney who proudly distanced himself from Reagan in 1994. McCain won in SC with a whopping 33%, by far the lowest margin ever, because Huckabee, Thompson and Romney all stayed in and split the conservative vote. 1 on 1 against a conservative he would have lost like did to Bush in 2000.
BTW, Brooks backed McCain in 2000 when he lost in SC, so what does that say about Brooks’ influence?
Limbaugh certainly helped in 1994 and 2000. He can only do so much when a guy like McCain who has spent his career antagonizing conservatives is at the top of the ticket. People are smart enough to see through that. Not to mention a historic recession among other things.
Who has Brooks ever helped get elected? What policy has he ever been decisive in passing? How many people have ever gone out and voted for a conservative or republican because of David Brooks? 0

Brooks should be careful. He may never have heard of being pecked to death by ducks, but I’m here in Minnesota to tell him that loons are meaner than ducks and loony besides.
