Clearly, there was momentum for the GOP this summer that has slowed or reversed in autumn. The party used that momentum to get top candidates into key Senate and House races, which will reap benefits if voters are angry at the Democrats a year from now. But the 1993-1994 scenario is not, so far, repeating itself

We do need a good corruption story to really seal the deal.

So far I have not seen an attempt by the national GOP to make a solid “current congress = Democrats” meme and focus on the fact that the Dems have been in control there for awhile. It seems that this might be a good idea considering the low polling numbers for congress.

Too funny. I never seen a Poll with these numbers. The new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 41% would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 39% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent.

Chris Cillizza delves into the internals of the Washington Post poll that has support for a “public option” in health care ticking back up. It’s lousy for Republicans.

Of course, no mention that the poll was a "random sample of ADULTS," not a poll of likely (or even registered) voters.

Why ask someone who is not registered to vote whether he'd vote for the R or D candidate? The only reason is to skew the results toward the RATS, which "all adults" polls are known to do.
