RNC never learns: Cutting its own throat on Crist v. Rubio
The Patriot Room ^ | November 13, 2009 | Clyde Middleton

I am beyond disappointed or hurt. I am personally offended.

Do you idiots [RNC] never learn? There is no such thing as Republican or democrat anymore. Look at the rise of independents, goofballs! There is one thing every independent rejects, absolutely and completely: Being told that party registration of a candidate means adherence to a pre-set list of positions, that we somehow can't talk to people of different registrations. As Korn sang, Freak on a leash. I am at a complete loss to grasp the depth of your inability to understand modern politics.

Hopefully, FL voters will realize that Crist is not right for their state or for the country at large.

That’s why the RNC, NRCC and the NRSC get none of my money. I contribute directly to candidates and organizations like the Republican Trust.

The GOP is doing everything they can to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Nothing has done more to confirm this in my mind as this...

Steele is a proven idiot and my Senator Cornyn is trying to duplicate him since his support of traitor Specter and his current support for Crist.

Just got a telemarketing call from the NRSC and let the poor soul at the other end know in no uncertain terms that this race was Exhibit A as to why I was not giving to the NRSC.

Maybe we ought to be having a few tea parties at RNC headquarters.

There is one thing every independent rejects, absolutely and completely: Being told that party registration of a candidate means adherence to a pre-set list of positions ...

I agree with you about Crist, Rubio, and the dangerous haplessness of the RNC. But to me, the real problem is that we CANNOT depend on Republicans to adhere to a "pre-set list of positions." That's the whole problem with moderates -- we don't know what their positions will be, whereas with a real conservative -- and conservatism should dominate the Republican party -- you already know the party position because it's based on principles "that work every time" they're tried, as Rush says. And what Rush says is TRUE.

I have zero respect for the person who proclaims, "I don't vote for the party, I vote for the man." That's a very flawed way to vote. In a representative Republic, the man is just a vessel. It's the shared philosophy that he represents that is being voted for or against. When I vote for the Republican, I am voting for conservative, limited government PHILOSOPHY. Conversely, if the Republican is a guy like Crist or Romney, who betrays conservative limited government principles, even if he is a Republican, I REFRAIN FROM VOTING FOR HIM and yearn to see him rejected by all Republicans not because of the man, but because of the philosophy he fails to represent -- of positions he will probably fail to adhere to but worst is that whether he will or not is anybody's guess.

That kind of inconsistency is what you get when you vote for the man. Philosophy is consistent because it is based on principles, and I will vote for the candidate who, like Reagan, demonstrates that he knows the difference between adhering to a philosophy from having positions on individual issues.

I remain a registered Republican for that reason, although the RNC gets zero $ from us. Conservatism must take back the Republican party.

Oh, maa-aa-aan, I missed that thread about the Ca NRSC telling Larry Elder not to run. I think jersey is right: it's time to start marching on RNC headquarters, state and national.

Schwarzenegger taught me just how stupid and wrong I have been all these years to vote "pragmatically" for the liberal Republican instead of bowing out and letting the Democrat win. I have learned and am applying what I've learned: whereas before I voted Republican ticket, I will refrain from voting for liberal Republicans because I have learned that a liberal Republican is worse in the long run than a liberal Democrat. A liberal Democrat hurts the here and how but helps nourish the development of future conservatives; a liberal Republican hurts the here and now and ALSO sabotages the future of conservatism.

RNC, take notice. The Romneys and Crists you try to serve to me will NOT get my vote, even if it means the Democrats win. I will NOT continue to engage, as you seem to do, in Einstein's definition of insanity.

That story really diminished my view of Cornyn as well...

I don’t like Crist and Rubio is not our knight in shining armor. That’s why I’m shouting out for Marshall DeRosa -

Fellow Floridians, please take a look at this guy. He may just be our ray of hope.

Larry Elder should not have obeyed the Rinos’ order. He should have run as a conservative. It’s time to stop playing the Rino game and make the Rinos play our game or lose.
