That happened to GHWB in Japan and the press took great delight playing video of him blowing chunks at the dinner table. Think the press will play video of 0ba-Mao doing that?

I am no expert in Japanese culture but I do know the manner in which you bow and the responding bow says something about each others status. This photo says Obama is a floor licker.

There is one other possibility.
He might be trying to outdo Bush41 by barfing on the Emperor’s shoes.
Yes, I suspect a great many others will pick up on this and agree.
Seeing the bowing made me think of Obama throwing out the first pitch of the major league season. He proved he is no pitcher but these bowing pictures surely show he is a “catcher”. As long as he is in office, foreign tinhorn dictators will certainly look upon the US as their “butt-boy”.
Now would be a good time to change the locks on the White House.

Bowing is used as a way of greeting, however how deep of a bow that's used has a lot of meaning.
And in this case Obama sent the signal that the Emperor is his superior whether he knows it or not and by extension that Japan is the superior to the U.S.
Anyway I think Obama was one confused puppy when he got that handshake instead of the bow he more than likely expected.
