“There’s no such thing as monsters.” We tell our kids that. The truth is that monsters are real. A real live monster might live next door to you, or across the street from your child’s school, even around the corner from your church. These monsters are called “Sex Offenders”, a label that is far too innocuous to convey the evil of those who have earned it.

Somer Renee Thompson...Only one thing is known for certain: on the way home from school that fateful day, Somer met a monster face-to-face.

For one thing, the definition of *sex offender* is way too broad. It applies to everyone from somebody who got caught peeing in public to the most outlandishly horrible individuals on the face of the planet.

It's turned into a way to make money for municipalities and control people's lives instead of keeping the really bad monsters in jail.

Send them to San Francisco. It is a way of life there.

Agree with everything you said.

But the real sex offenders should never see the light of day after conviction.

A high school senior who gets caught in the act with his 16 year old girlfriend is a "sex offender against children".

And there are lots of accusations of molestation which are cooked up as part of nasty divorces.

Not that there are not real predators out there, but before looking at this chart and shrieking "OMG!!" we should try to screen out the false positives.

Its WAAAY out of control!!!!

-AND-

The Domestic Violence laws in Washington State are friggin unbelievable. Like NAZI unbelievable!!!!

http://www.seattlepi.com/powertoharm/

The town of Wenatchee, Wash., made world headlines in 1994 and 1995 when police and state social workers undertook what was then called the nation’s most extensive child sex-abuse investigation.

By the time it was done, at least 60 adults were arrested on 29,726 charges of child-sex abuse involving 43 children. Many of the accused were poor or developmentally disabled. Many cases were settled on the strength of confessions taken down by Wenatchee police Detective Bob Perez.

In February 1998, the Post-Intelligencer published a series of articles that documented overzealous — and even abusive — actions by Perez and social service caseworkers, civil rights violations by judges and prosecutors as well as sloppy work by public defenders.

Since then, many of the convicted have been freed by higher courts, largely through the work of The Innocence Project, a group of volunteer lawyers.

The innocent are NOT safe from false accusation!! They’ll lock you up for a week without EVER asking you for a statement. EVER!!!!

Agree.

Actually, I think anyone who has sex with a pre-pubescent child should get the death penalty.
