Palin inspires “domestic engineer” to run for Florida’s 8th Congressional District seat

Patricia Sullivan is daring to go where many women would never have dared to go before Sarah Palin and Barack Obama came on the national political scene. She’s running for Florida’s 8th Congressional District currently held by Democrat Alan Grayson against a trial lawyer and a real estate agent.

Palin inspired her; concern for her children’s futures motivated her to leave her current position as a self described Domestic Engineer/School Teacher/Community Organizer. “… and that still wouldn’t come close to covering everything I do,” quips Sullivan.

“The first thing I would like to do is repeal the “stimulus” spending bill and put all unused funds back in the Treasury. Clearly that was a tremendous failure,” says Sullivan firmly. ‘Sarah Palin really was a breath of fresh air. I remember the day she was announced as McCain’s running mate. We stopped our book work to watch TV. Our oldest daughter, Jennifer, was immediately engaged in the election because of her. I remember watching Sarah walk through crowds with Piper holding her waist and now my youngest is doing the same while I’m talking with voters in my district.

My family has always been active and engaged in the community. My husband and I have four children and have been married for 18 years. We’ve always home schooled which has given us the freedom to volunteer at all hours of the day, from nursing homes to boys and girls clubs. Two years ago I founded the Lake County 4-H Foundation which secures funding for our county 4-H program, enabling youth to attend leadership camps and participate in activities they otherwise couldn’t afford. Serving together as a family not only blesses others, but we typically receive the greater blessing!”’

Good luck Patricia! God knows Grayson is a whacko and hopefully next election cycle will cause him to drain the rest of his bank account to try and win again.

I don’t know what will come of this, but she’s interesting for sure.

IMHO, Grayson is going to be a tough opponent for a career politician to beat. I see him as becoming the left’s version of Michelle Bachman: The guy in a centrist leaning district that is an outspoken leftist and gets national exposure (and money) for it, making him a tough target.

An opponent like this, however, could totally take him off his guard. How is he realistically going to portray a homeschooling mother as someone who wants to kill people who don’t have health insurance? Surely, he’ll try, but will it sell? I have my doubts...

That’s as stupid as an elevator operator calling themselves a hydraulic engineer!

He is backed by many, many Lawyers in central Florida. As far as I’m concerned they are all scum so he is a good match.

I hope she can beat his butt, I wish her well.

Sarah didn’t even endorse her mother-in-law for mayor, because Sarah did not believe her mother-in-law was the best candidate. I think this woman would run for some local political positions before running for a house seat. On the other hand if this woman has the local support then more power to her. cleavage

Earlier this year, two stay at home moms and members of Smart Girl politics, ran for and won local elections in AZ, they too sited Palin as their inspiration.

Probably because her husband has a paying job.

She is interesting, but she sounds more like a novelty than a serious candidate.

If I read Sarah's book correctly, I believe that she didn't endorse her MIL because she did want to be accused of nepotism or cronyism. Something she had already run across with others and locked horns with. It caused a bit of friction between her and Todd that they got over.
