Alaska’s U.S. Senator Mark Begich: A Man With a Past and is There a Smoking Gun?
Red County ^ | November 25, 2009 | Thomas Lamb

I am going to start off with saying you can judge a man’s character by his past and the friends he keeps or kept. And when you look at both Senator Begich’s past and who his friends were, no one should be surprised with the new revelations on Anchorage’s budget deficit and how then Mayor Begich left out some important information when it came to signing union contracts that cost Anchorage taxpayers more money.

When Begich ran against Ted Stevens for the U.S. Senate seat, Begich saw an opportunity because Senator Stevens was under investigation for not properly filing campaign reports and it was based on Bill Allen, (longtime political contributor to both Republican and Democratic candidates) remodeling Stevens' house in Girdwood.

Prior to the trial of Ted Stevens, the federal government and their prosecutors were involved in the corruption trials of Alaska Republican legislators. One individual who was involved in the corruption trials was Bill Bobrick, longtime lobbyist for various clients and one time, Deputy Treasurer and best friend of Mark Begich.

Ted Stevens was a crook. Anyone who sends $250,000,000 for a stupid bridge ought to lose. As Jim Demint says “I’d rather have 40 like minded conservatives”.

“Ted Stevens was a crook. Anyone who sends $250,000,000 for a stupid bridge ought to lose”

Regardless, It’s obvious that the dems achieved their objective by getting rid of him and replacing his seat with a democrat. Now we need to get it back.

I can’t stand Begich, called his DC office prior to House passing their version of health care crap and told him as a constituent did not want him to support anything like that in the senate.

His office emailed back listing the “reasons” why he supported it, so I emailed back and asked him if it is so good why wasn’t he going to sign himself and family up for it too?...No answer back of course.

Regarding the bridge, I work construction on a lot of projects funded by both the State and the Federal Government (our money), looking at bid notices all the time for projects of similiar scope. It was not overpriced in my opinion, would have cost less than the Boston “Dig” per capita, and it sure wasn’t a bridge to “No where”.

It would have provided us access to our International Airport, State, Borough and more importantly, private land allowing developement and easing our constriction here on the thin narrow strip the Fed has so “generously” given back to the state for people to live on.

You may live here too, and like my wife think it was a waste of money, but if you don’t live in Alaska, or have never been to Ketchikan I just wanted to fill you in on some details you would never have seen in the MSM.

Ted Stevens was part of the problem. As you know there is a “war” inside the GOP. We’ll have to lose before we win it back. In that process it means “big spending” Republicans need to lose. These “big spenders” cost us in ‘06. They gave us what we have now. Blame Ted Stevens.
