Taking a Break from FR (Vanity)
12/05/09 | Me

Posted on 12/05/2009 2:02:24 PM PST by Awestruck

This is no emo swan song, so please don't take it as such.

I'm starting to see things in certain kinds of "conservatives" that I don't like.. things that the left is accusing us of turning into truths.. like knee jerk reactionism... like hate for the sake of hate...like judging people not on their character but on their appearance... like supporting the government even when its wrong as long as its Republicans running the farm.. like following straight party lines in all things... i.e. "republicans are always right, democrats are always wrong..".. I've done a lot of growing in the past 2 years.. and I've learned some things.. I understand more of the reasons why conservatives and christians tend to get villified.. its not our message that's wrong..its the way we spread it to others sometimes... My own philosophy is this: I am a Christian, who believes in the worthiness of innocent human life, minimal government, self sufficiency, strong penalties for strong crimes, legalizing drugs, gambling, and prostitution (which does not mean I support it but don't think they should be criminal activities), I believe in the importance of giving what we can to help our fellow man, I believe that the "justice system" in this country is flawed and broken, I believe that we should associate with all types of people, just as Jesus did, and not immediately judge people by what they look like, or what political or religious associations they hold, until they prove themselves unworthy of association. I don't believe that government should be involved in any way in ANY relationship issues between (and read this carefully) consenting adults. I am tired of dealing with curmudgeons who will not look at things in a practical, reasonable manner on here, but react straight from the gut level, without any real though associated with it, because that's what liberals do. So I'm taking a break. I'll be back when there's a political action issue that I feel I need to deal with, in the meantime, this is a good place for open debate, and information, and I would encourage others to try it out. But I'm too tired to fight right now.

It’s probably always a good idea to avoid being who the left thinks we are.

It gets tiresome. Understanding the point of view of others, and your personal reaction to them doesn’t end as a result of staying off this site however. Everyone needs a break and/or change of pace. Enjoy.

***But I’m too tired to fight right now.***

It happens.

Pleading guilty to snarky comments - snappy retorts and occasional bad taste.

Juvenile rants on Michelle Obama’s fashion crimes, Hilary’s cankles and Chelsea’s parentage....don’t lend intellectual weight to our arguments - but they do relieve the stress.

Conservatives are people too. Frustrated, angry, feeling helpless and wondering why too many of our fellow citizens cannot see what is so obvious.

Sleep it off and come back soon.

Take a break. Have a Merry Christmas. Come back after the first of the year.

The fight will be the same, probably, but you will have recharged your batteries.

It gets to everyone sometimes.

Legalizing drugs?

Which ones?

Heroin?

Methamphetamine?

People should look the other way when..A child is raped?

People indulge in sex with animals?

Laws are in place to prevent damage to society and individuals. Some laws are difficult to deal with but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

You must not have been paying attention. We FReepers have been far more frustrated by RINO’s than Dems. You always know what the democrat will do. That’s a given.

I wish you well in your Travels, Grasshopper
May you find Vision to Light your Way

Many who speak on this board, Do so in pain,
Burned themselves by the intensity of their Vision
To see such self inflicted suffering in this World
and to rail, like a Prophet in the Wilderness

Do not Judge them so Unkindly
They mean well, and are of good Heart
Even if their words are often coarse

A personal Benediction to You

Live in Peace
Live in Victory
Know that there is also Love in this World

Return when you can

Awestruck, sounds like you do need a rest. Reading threads daily here, IMHO most postiing are NOT blindly following a party platform, nor a straight party line. I've also seen kudos to democrats who do the right thing.

It's what you read and what you glean from it - same as watching Fox News or listening to any AM radio talk show. If there are 100 posts on a topic, there is no doubt a bunch of those posts will either raise questions, cast doubts or disagree entirely. It's what makes the world (and FR) go around!

I don't care what anyone says, Michelle Obama is not a fashion icon and I'm gonna call it out! Just because I'm a conservative doesn't mean I don't love fashion. That is all.
