Michael Steele and Conservatism
Conservative Talk ^ | December 14, 2009 | junebug

Posted on 12/14/2009 11:25:30 AM PST by buszero

Michael Steele held a discussion on Twitter today under the hashtag “#listentome.” There were all but 27 questions and responses in about 20 minutes, and it proved to be simply an ambush from outraged citizens that even a well-decorated Georgetown lawyer couldn’t fend off.

The premise was simple. Republicans only control 1/3 of both the House and the Senate while having lost a presidential election under the image of trying to “expand the base” into territories of “moderates.” Ultimately, the choices given to the conservative base was that you either choose a Democrat under a Democrat label or you choose a Democrat under a Republican label. What’s the difference? They’re all Democrats! Why would anyone want to vote for these “moderates” in the first place if the result is that we get more Collins/Snowe combinations who use their votes to do more damage with bills like the Porkulus?

Michael Steele should be granted the benefit of the doubt such that the lack of Republican seats is not his fault, but he should be the man to fix the problem. Steele has nothing to lose at this point, and if he doesn’t start rallying the Conservative base, then he will not have accomplished anything good for the Republican party. Obama’s popularity is a result of his own bad policies. Steele has nothing to do with the momentum that the Republicans have right now.

But we still need him. And here’s the plan that Steele should be trying to implement:

1. Announce that we are trying take back a majority again with a number of conservative Republicans.

2. Look at the candidates that the Tea Party movement supports, and jump the gun in endorsing a number of them. It is not customary for the RNC to back a candidate until the grass roots have chosen its candidates for their district. However, the Tea Party movement is the side of the people rather than the side of the fat cats from within the Republican leadership who are going to choose moderates and recognize that these fat cats are NOT the actual base.

3. Announce this plan with a goal and an intention of getting the PEOPLE behind the Republican party rather than just another Democrat in a sense that, “People are not excited of having two Democrats run for the same offices in their districts. If you want a Democrat, then you should be voting Democrat, but we value our conservative base. Therefore, we back our conservative candidate. It gives people an ACTUAL choice, and that’s what America is about.” Steele should realize that this strategy helps because it gives the lesser-known conservative candidates free advertising just by being associated with the RNC name.

5. Start by endorsing the two biggest conservative names running for Senate offices in their conservative states, Chuck DeVore and Marco Rubio.

6. Make appearances to help these conservative candidates. If Michael Steele were to stand on a Los Angeles street corner with a sign that says “Support Chuck DeVore,” it would definitely bring attention to it, and he should publicly ask Arnold Schwarzenegger to do the same for his party. If these two men are “too good” to do this for their constituents, then they do not deserve to be Republicans - plain and simple.

7. Lastly, Steele should endorse as many of such conservative candidates as he can, and when asked about the moderate candidates, he should be saying, “I’ll support (so and so) if he/she can get the nomination, but as of right now, DeVore and Rubio are the bright spots who give the people of their states an actual choice as to the principles that would be leading this country.” This comes from a realization that the heart and soul of the Republican party is its conservative base. If we continue to give people a choice of “A Democrat versus a Democrat” at the voting booth, then we are deserting our own principles and our base.

Many of you are probably reading this thinking “fat chance.“ But what if it happens that Steele DOES end up doing things like these to make us happy? Would you support him?

Please take the poll. No membership required.

I will support anyone who truly moves in a Conservative direction.

But I certainly don't plan to hold my breath, waiting for Steele to do so.

OR, do what I did. That is, write Steele off. If what this article is saying is true, Steele is NOT doing his job so fire him. Here is the beginning of a list of RINO culprits that we need to dump: Graham, Steele, Newt, Romney, Huckabee, and that is just for starters. We are at the bottom of the barrel politically speaking, there is no better time to flush the toilet than right now and start from scratch. Time for some new conservative blood to come to bat.

Only made it to the first sentance of the third paragraph before the author began to make shit up out of thin air.

I’ve been seeing John Bolton on a lot of shows lately, mostly FOX and I can’t find a thing about him that I don’t like. We need to get him into office but I don’t think he is running for anything. Maybe we should prod him a little. Can you imagine He and Palin together? What a team. At the least he should be Sec. of State.

I was talking about the stuff that existed before he got there such as the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate. Sorry if there was any confusion over that.

This article seems to be all about Michael Steele, and will we support him if he does a 180, and becomes a Conservative.

Not only NO, but HELL NO.

If the guy isn’t naturally a Conservative, then he is a faux Conservative. Faux Conservative he is, ‘cause he needs too often to borrow Obama’s teleprompter. If he were a true Conservative he wouldn’t say the stupid things he has said in the recent past.

We need Conservative leadership in the Republican Party, not RINO management. We need a Political Party interested in Conservative Politics, not the emphasis on the “BIG TENT” that brings in the funding for cocktails with Romney RINO’S.

This country is in serious trouble, and we need serious action by serious people to fix the serious problems, and that means real Conservatives at work.

Don't forget he's pro-choice too! I know! His viewpoints on many issues are horrendous! It's the Tea Party Movement and the fact that Obama is screwing up the American economy so bad that really turned things around for the Republicans. If Steele is smart, he should ride this wave and start supporting conservatives.

Yeah, maybe if he also gave up on one of his on personal liberal positions.....support for Affirmative Action. It is not a Conservative position to discriminate against poor white people.

Since Steele has spent every waking moment in his position trying to run conservatives off I do not see him changing and if he does it will typically be way too late.

Steele is a typical party “yes-man”, put in place because he’s black. Period.

There is no time for the “BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT” every moment wasted on niceties is a moment lost. What we need is to be shown leadership and a conviction and actions rather than words Mr Steele! You know what we demand and if you refuse to or ignore, if you play down this fire out here we will find what we are looking for elsewhere, that is a promise. We are truley mad as hell and we are not gonna take it anymore!

Rinos convinced themselves and everyone else in power that the only way to win was to become liberal to attract atheists, homosexuals and racial minorities. They ran this game for years before Reagan and Newt came along. They had a permanent minority of liberals and they got to be the rulers of the loser party that assisted the liberals in shaping their socialist global Utopia. They were happy as pigs in you know what.

They picked Rino Steele just like they got rid of conservatives and backed more Rinos. And where was I? I am embarrassed for having fallen to sleep on the job here. I did not know anything about Steele before he was selected. I'm awake and kicking now. I'm not supporting Steele. He can get on board or get run over by the tea party bus. McCain's trying to save his skin and act like a conservative for a change. He still has to go because he's a sneaky backstabber who hates us and he's like a termite in the party.

Joe Scarborough and Michael Savage are the worst or the worst.

They are like the devil who starts false religions as to counterfeit to the the real deal in a nut shell----

"For God so loved the world that whosoever believed in me (Jesus)shall not perish but have everlasting life."

People who follow them (some dumb freepers) do more harm to the Conservative movement then the liberals. They cut down the real disciples like Rush, Hannity, Levin, Palin, and more, just like the devil did to Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, etc.

These people that follow Joe Scarborough and Michael Savage are in a cult and they need help to get away!
