So, the Democrats' attack plan is to tell voters that the GOP will repeal the budget-busting, tax-hiking, Medicare-cutting, abortion-funding, big insurance and big pharma giveaway that only has the support of 35% of voters. Brilliant!
Conservatives have been saying that if Obamacare passes Republicans should run on the platform of repealing this monstrosity. The Democrats really think it's a smart attack plan to send the same message?
Does this count as an in-kind contribution to Republican candidates?

LOLZ... Political Suicide for them. This will only work if the passage of this health-care montrosity was accepted by the vast majority of Americans, which it isn’t.
Let them confine themselves to this single issue. There is not only a government takeover of people’s lives that we can counter with, there are all kinds of cultural war arguments in there as well, especially in regards to abortion.

Oh, they’ll refine their message some. They’ll say that the repubs are bought and paid for by big pharma and big insurance and that only the dems can save you from those evil rich people. I think you are right in the way that they have 10 or more months still left to sell this, but I don’t think Americans are buying it.
The only way the Democrats can offset the impending doom to their numbers in Congress is for the economy to turn around. Then, and only then, will the sheeple buy the rest of their Marxist program.
This is the plan, though. Obama and Rahm Emanuel are playing long. Going all-in on this gamble in hopes that an economic turnaround will fuel a massive resurgence. If it fails, they know they are toast.
Well, turning it around is going to take some time and quite a bit of hard work.

They only stumbled into power because the GOP blew it so badly. If the GOP wins the coming election it’s because the Democrat’s blew it even worse. If either side were truly intelligent they wouldn’t keep flipping control back and forth by default. They’d be able to win by a campaign slogan in Favor OF something rather then “we’re not that party”.
Right now I think we’re seeing a measure of fear, denial, arrogance and faith (in their liberal philosophy). All are leading them to act stupidly.

The democratic party has lit its candle at both ends, it burned brighter but also burned faster.
With America realizing which party follows the better long term interests of the majority its becoming more clearer to all that the leftists are losing ground, losing support and losing momentum. They do not have the horsepower to haul America over the summit to a better future anymore.
They have only managed to go any distance at all because they have been traveling downhill.

In theory you’re right and we should have every advantage going into 2010 but I’m just very nervous about the nearly infinite capacity of the GOP “leadership” to miss an opportunity. Although I have to admit, the Republican Party looked very good in the recent struggle in the Senate to try to stop the HealthBomb. I nevertheless remain very nervous.
I’m sort of counting on Palin to ride roughshod over the process and keep the GOP from punking out. But as good as she is, there’s only so much one person can do. What if this idea takes hold in the minds of the RNC and the majority of GOP candidates: the best approach is to moderate our criticism of the Health Bill?

The only thing more disappointing than how much politicians count on 'the people' having a short memory, is how much 'the people' prove that the politicians are right.
Give it a year -- as long as people don't see gas prices leap, cell phone coverage shrink, or their cable TV off the air, they will sit back with the remote, belch, and think, "What was everyone all wee-wee'd up about health care for?"
Then in December, smug little Barney Frank, witchy Pelosi, and cadaverous Reid will continue to stalk the halls of congress, ladling themselves fresh-perqued pork.
The big deal with big pharma that is written into the Obama Monstrosity will be totally and completely ignored by Big Media... now, later and forever.
It will only come out if the GOP brings it out, in paid ads, over and over again. I worry that they won’t do this, out of some misplaced fear of sounding “harsh” or “negative”... or heck, I don’t know the reasons why they always hold back, always hold their punches... but they do. As a group, the GOP is the party of wimps. I fear that won’t change in 2010, though, as I said, I do like the way the Repubs stuck together through recent events in the Senate. So I hope I’m wrong. But I’m afraid. Very afraid.
Yup, you nailed it. The tax increases probably won’t manifest themselves enough in the next 10 months to be that noticeable.
What the GOP should do — if it has gonads, if it as a soul — is to point out that Obama ran on a platform of no tax increases for the middle class... and then list all the tax increases that are just beginning and that are on the way... and to play that list in paid ads, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
If they do that. They win.
If they don’t do that. They lose.
Simple as that.
