In the familiar round of terror attempts, Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab failed in his attempt to bomb a Detroit bound plane. His efforts were not foiled by the tens of billions of dollars the US Government spends on intelligence and homeland security, but by vigilant citizens who took just action when called upon. The travelling public joined an unwritten compact even before the Twin Towers finished burning and collapsed: nobody shall be permitted to hijack an airplane. Within a few minutes of the three planes successful attacks on 9/11, the fourth plane's passengers realized their grim reality and took action against their attackers. From that minute on, the Government has failed to stop several airline attacks, but never the People.
Congressmen have rightly asked how the TSA failed to prevent the terrorist from boarding the plane with explosives strapped to his legs. The answer is that the TSA is the largest body of sloths and self-important buffoons ever created without the benefit of an election.

I recently flew on AA over the holidays and have never seen a bunch of incompetent workers. There were no standards for checking the contents of our carry on luggage. My mother-in-law (84 yo) went through in a wheel chair and they never searched anything on the chair. Uneffn’ believable.

There are times that I wonder what things would have been like if a different plane was “saved” by the passengers. Congress would be more focused on building themselves another palace instead of destroying the economy.
Arm the passengers. (No I’m not kidding!) ... the terrorists are “armed” why not the people they are trying to kill?
Was the individual who subdued Mr. Abdulmutallab authorized to do what he did? I mean was he an Air Marshall, a certified card carrying union member? Did he injure Mr. Abdulmutallab in any way? Did he use excessive force? The death of 300 passengers would be terrible, but the damage to our philosophy of diversity would be even worse. Had Mr. Abdulmutallab been white would Jasper have been so eager to attack him.
Jasper Schuringa should not only be the subject of a law suit but should be compelled to take sensitivity training. It should be unnecessary to point out that I am being sarcastic. However, the disease that is liberalism is so widespread that some may believe that I am being sincere. Let’s have another round of Koolaid.

Actually if Flight 93 had gone into the US Capitol, it would have been a good thing for the USA, if all the criminals had been there, that is. Think about it - getting rid of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reed, Barney Frank, Dick Durbin, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, and all the rest of the democrat criminals in one swoop.
Unfortunately, it probably would have got a bunch of secretaries and security folks because it was in the morning.
Well, the Obama Cabinet is giving them a run-for-the-money!
Everyone on the plane could be an air marshall and it won’t mean a thing if an explosive, even a small one, goes off at thirty thousand feet.
Those people survived because the bomb failed just like Richard Reids. I firmly believe that the muslim extremists are not interested in takeovers anymore. They may be concentrating on just getting one or two people on board with secreted explosives and quietly blow themselves and everyone else to hell.
The muslim extremists will NEVER stop trying to perfect a way to explode a plane in flight and kill Americans. PC can have a new name.

Excellent thought! All new people in office. Elections in 50 states in the aftermath of terrorism would most likely have seated patriots instead of the traitors in office now.

As we all know – thanks to being told so by successive administrations — Islam is the religion of peace*. Thanks to the actions of one brave passenger — who fully understood that he had nothing to lose — this incident remained a small one.
Thanks to PC and the chronic disease known as “Cranial Anal Inversion Syndrome” among most alleged American “leaders” all the way up to the White Mosque — er — House, this “small” incident — and all like it in the future — will disappear down the Orwellian memory hole.
\I suspect the primary cause of the failure to put this guy – and only God knows how many more — on a no-fly list is that the folks down the food chain and on the ground who are SUPPOSED to keep these MUSLIM idiots off commercial flights are severely conflicted. On one hand, they are tasked to keep flying safe. On the other, they’ve all had multiple memos and “sensitivity sessions” stressing that they MUST be especially alert to the feelings of Muslims. Any actions they take against them MUST be fully justified and documented. The vernacular expression dealing with that is “CYA.” And so they do — while the rest of us die or, thanks to the actions of a passenger, have a very close call on approach to Detroit.
Compounding the problem is that this particular miscreant was not only a Muslim but a black guy from Nigeria. And the American president is _________ (fill in the correct color) and, having been born to a Muslim father and raised in a Muslim country, sympathetic to the religion of _________. (fill in the appropriate term).
The response to this near-tragedy? Fatherland Security now keeps passengers in their seats for the last hour of the trip!! Great! I suspect sales of Depends will soon spike. Now these folks will die at 35,000 feet and the wreckage will be strewn over hundreds of square miles making it virtually impossible to determine if it WAS an act of mass murder by (select one) an angry Norwegian, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, a Muslim nutcase. A few more of these and the air travel industry will be COMPLETELY dead.
By their INACTION and persistence in their denial that we are at war with a determined and dedicated enemy, these alleged “leaders” have 100% guaranteed that the next one will NOT be “small.”
* BTW, “peace” has two definitions:
1. The absence of conflict or war.
2. The ABSENCE or SUPPRESSION OF RESISTANCE TO SOME FORCE, POLICY, IDEOLOGY or POLITICAL SYSTEM, etc. WITH WHICH ONE HAS AN ABIDING DISAGREEMENT WHICH ONE WOULD OTHERWISE ATTEMPT TO DEFEAT TO THE POINT OF TAKING UP ARMS.

Sad to say folks but this government is more interested in not ‘’offending ‘’ Muslims that it is in protecting us. We’re on our own here. If you have to travel it’s really a matter of protecting yourself anyway you can. Keep a pen in your pocket. Stab the jihadi in the eye. Hell of a thing isn’t? Billions spent on ‘’security’’, best military in the world and what does it come down to? Some Dutch guy in the right place at the right time with a set of stones as big as all outdoors. God Almighty, what have we come to?
You have succinctly nailed it. As one terror expert said on one of the TV shows, we react to this idiocy by focusing on CLOTHING. After the shoe bomber, people were asked to remove their shoes. Now we’re demanding that passengers can’t have blankets over them upon descent. Too late, folks. The horse is already out of the barn door.
If we would simply stop with the PC stupidity, which is going to get us all killed, we would catch these morons WAY before they try to board a plane. But if we’re going to ignore major clues handed to us on a silver platter, then I’m afraid many more of these incidents are on the horizon.
