Oliver Stone to Produce "Springtime For Hitler" and Stalin too
The Lid/UK Independant ^ | 1/10/10 | The Lid

Oliver Stone believes he can show us that Hitler got a bad break, he wants to show us the human side of Hitler. Maybe he has watched the movie the Producers too many times, and he believes Franz Liebkind's lines like, Not many people know it, but the Fuhrer was a terrific dancer, or Hitler... there was a painter! He could paint an entire apartment in ONE afternoon! TWO coats!

The movie director, producer, and conspiracy theorist is on a publicity tour for a television project, where he wants to provide a 'more factual representation' of Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin.

This may be Oliver’s Father Coughlin moment.

Oh *goody*. Politics aside, I am of the opinion that Stone is one of the more overrated directors of the last few decades. Most of his movies are mediocre outings chock full of stereotyped characters and cliches aplenty. I liked Platoon as a teenager (dunno if it holds up), and Talk Radio was quite good. But that’s about it.

BTW, Stone is releasing the sequel to Wall Street this year, with Shia LeBoeuf in the role of a young trader instead of Charlie Sheen. Oh *goody*.

"Hitler is just a man who could have easily been assassinated."

Lt. Colonel Count Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg would disagree with that. There were 17 different plans to assassinate Hitler, 3 of which involved Stauffenberg as the "trigger" man. All failed, including Stauffenberg's third, when a bomb which killed 4 people resulted in only minor injuries to the Fuehrer. And it wasn't American corporations who saved Hitler.

The fact is that they are responsible for many millions of innocent people’s horrible deaths.

I’m sure that’s not a problem for Mr. Stone, since they did it for the right reasons, in his not so humble opinion.
