Hello little antelope, would you like to play with us? Coming from three deadly cheetahs, it's the kind of invitation that's best refused - but amazingly, this impala escaped unscathed from its encounter. Luckily for the youngster, it seems these three male cheetahs simply weren't hungry.

Sure, they played with it before they ate it - like the cheetah mom said “How many times have I told you to play with your food before you eat it?”
It is a natural phenomenon.
Adult predators *practice* on immature prey - when they are too small for a good meal.
Dogs play with kittens, baby squirrels etc.,
It hones their instincts and confuses the prey - who are less suspicious as adults.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeesh - didn’t any of youse guys live in the country?
They must have eaten papa impala a half hour before...
Yep, that’s what I think. You should read the comments though. Like this one.
“I’m with Patricia so I’m glad it’s already been said... why must you all hate so hard on something that is so sweet and so CUTE?! How on Earth are you supposed to know from looking at 4 photos that this is some elaborate scam of an article? I think these photos are wonderful and it makes me happy to think there sometimes IS a happy ending!”
It happens on occassion, but it sure isn’t common. It’s like the polar bear who was coming and playing with the sled dogs last year. Very cool to observe, very stupid to expect.
Well, that would have just ruined the whole story now, wouldn’t it?
The point is though the article says they let the little guy go.
Yeah, I’ve seen more of the set. They were just playing with their food before they ate it.
can’t we all just get along?
Somewhere I think it said they didn’t print all the pictures one of which was the cheetah’s supposedly eating it ....
“Well, that would have just ruined the whole story now, wouldnt it?”
Well I think from what I can figure out. The story, which says they let the antelope go, Is false.
This is particularly true for young cheetahs. Their hunting methods are so technical that they must be taught and take longer to become self-sufficient than other big cats. Leopards & lions are much more instinctive killers. Though any cat will "play with its food".
My dog dug a mole out of the snow yesterday and played with it for a while. The mole didn’t fare so well despite not being eaten.
I was kind of surprised that a mole would be active above ground under the snow.
“Yeah, Ive seen more of the set. They were just playing with their food before they ate it.”
Now that sounds more realistic.
As the old saying goes, the lion may lie down with the lamb, but the lamb won’t get much sleep.
They couldn't quite figure it out, and the antelope escapted.
The lioness let it go. I guess she figured they have to learn, and gave them a hard lesson in growing up.
Yep, the photo of the cheetahs eating to baby Impala were not published but are on the Biosphoto website.
“My dog dug a mole out of the snow yesterday and played with it for a while. The mole didnt fare so well despite not being eaten.”
He wouldn’t have made it here, my dog don’t play with rats, moles, or squirrels. He’s deadly. I’ve seen him pick squirrels off of the side of trees when they aren’t paying attention.
The mole was dead inside of 10 seconds. Jack Russells are varmint killin machines.

Three democrats play with a RINO republican moments before killing and eating it's political career...
Is that baby’s name Arlen?
“The mole was dead inside of 10 seconds. Jack Russells are varmint killin machines.”
lol , those little dogs are crazy...they’ll eat your toes right off!
Mine is rat terrier/lab mix. He fights with the Jack Russel next door through the chain link fence. They sound like they are tearing each other to pieces.
I think this ones got it figured out.

So, what's for dessert?
...or maybe McCain with the eneMedia back in the primaries, “I really like the way you guys call me ‘Maverick McCain!’ You guys really like me!”
“Dogs play with kittens, baby squirrels etc.,”
My dog eats baby squirrels. Or at least parts of them.
Lions and buffalo and crocs, oh my! Rush went on and on about this video of Lions and a croc fighting over a baby buffalo. But the buffalo get in the last word.

Reminds me of the myth that animals only kill to eat. Then I saw the video of the two tigers that went on a rampage killing 7 antelope in just a few minutes time...then walked away.
I understand that P. T. Barnum had a display of a lion actually lying down with a lamb. A reporter asked P.T. how he did it, and P.T. replied "Frequent and judicious application of a lamb".
I saw once on a nature channel where a confused cheetah didn't kill/eat a baby impala because the baby just laid there and didn't run, which would have triggered an attack by the cheetah.
I saw that video pretty amazing.
How sweet!
just like how dems play with RINOS right before they do something “bipartisan”
It’s like the naivete of Obama. He wishes the world were different. It’s not. Cheetahs will eat gazelles.
Then in the search area at the top, type in Cheetah in the first field then Impala.........You will see the whole sequence of pictures........
Ha cute pictures. Those little fellers can really jump. More like Tasmanian Devils than dogs.
“Then in the search area at the top, type in Cheetah in the first field then Impala.”
Thanks, I only searched in the first field when I looked. Appreciate the tip.
Along with the caption: “After playing with the young Impala, Cheetah brothers have killed it and eaten.”
Another news story that turned out to be completely false.
Yeah, and my cat loves to play with mice before he eats them. Sorry, not buying this story.
Only in Obama’s demented fantasies..
There’s a video out there somewhere of a zebra drowning a lion that is awesome
Cats like to “play with” their food. Some then proceed to dine very soon. Some eat a little later.
There were a heck of a lot of ahhh and oh no's during the first 5 minutes.
They kill more than they eat, and also play with wounded prey, so that their hunting skills are kept sharp.
It is a good survival strategy, and aids the tiger tremendously.
Not just tigers, but also cheetahs, cats, leopards, etc.
The last picture tells it all..look at the expression on the impala,,it is running for escape with a big cat in pursuit..I wager the little guy was a morsel.
I hope you pointed out that nature works that way and that calf getting away was a one in a million shot.
Actually I mentioned to the kids that the buffalo was probably pretty torn up and it would have been lucky if it did not die of infections.
OMG! You mean the MEDIA would lie, just for the sake of selling some more detergent?
Cheetah2: "This is no fun. The thrill is in the chase, and I'm not going to eat something that's retarded. What would the other Cheetah's say?"
