Fourth Grader's Toy LEGO Gun And Policeman Leads To Suspension Threat

A fourth grade New York City boy was playing with LEGOS in the elementary school cafeteria this week when he was escorted to the principal's office. He faced suspension for bringing a toy to school. It was a LEGO policeman that held a two inch plastic rifle.

The school has a "no tolerance" policy for toy guns. The boy was stunned that he was in trouble because the toy was so small. The boy's parents are livid. They believe school officials didn't exercise good judgment. They believe that this particular toy isn't one that could be used to threaten people in crimes, as some realistic toy guns are used.

The toy was confiscated. New York City school policy allows no toy guns in schools. Each school principal has discretion, and this principal was a hard liner. Finally, common sense controlled, and after a conference with the parents, no further action was taken. The parents may sue the school.

In Nevada:

A car burglar didn't know what was in store for him when he broke out the rear slider and went into the truck of Reno resident Steven Daughhetee. The truck's owner heard suspicious noises outside his motorcycle repair shop on Wednesday afternoon. He picked up his Glock, and....

It's stories like this that continually reinforce that I've made the right decision to home school my kids.

At one time I was working on a masters in education...not interested in teaching in the propaganda mills though.

School administrators need to be sent for re-education.

Daughhetee told police that the Glock made a difference in the outcome of the confrontation.

Really? Dja think? Verifying the old adage, "You can get a further with a kind word and a gun than you can with just a kind word.", attributed to Al Capone

We need to do something to put the adults back in charge of our education system. These people are lunatics.

School administrators need to be sent for re-education.

I doubt it'll help. I don't think you can teach common sense and how to think rationally.

The North Viets were pretty good at it.

I think the more reasonable alternative is just to remove the kooks who make decisions like this one and let some rational adult run the school instead.

I dunno.
Something happens to rationality when the PhD is achieved.

It's not the PhD itself...it's the indoctrination that goes along with getting it at most schools. Conservatives have conceded control of schools to liberals for far too long. The problem is, liberals are so entrenched and box out conservatives. I suspect the only solution will end up for conservatives to start some new Universities...and/or take lead in the ones that aren't too far gone.

Liberal morons should be taken out back and shot (with a water pistol, of course!)

Zero Tolerance = Zero Common Sense

Unfortunately, in education today, common sense is not so common among professional educators and their administrators.

I suppose school kids will now have to wear mittens so they cannot use their fingers to make pretend guns and all pictures of guns must be censored from encyclopedias and dictionaries.

Not being there, you all missed the screams as all the scared little school children ran from the cafeteria in fear for their lives.

Even worse, I’ll bet the teachers were quaking in their shoes.
