If Tea Party activists are unhappy with President Barack Obama, it would have been a lot worse under President John McCain, Tom Tancredo declared Thursday in opening remarks at the convention in Nashville, Tenn.

“Tom Tancredo declared Thursday in opening remarks at the convention in Nashville, Tenn.”

While I agree with him in some ways, I wonder how he got around the ethics charge to speak there. Did it for free?

You were saying ...

I didn't miss all the parts where you've defended* 0bama on birther threads.

Identifying the idiotic corner of Free Republic with the "Obama Derangement Syndrome" types is not supporting Obama... it's shining the light on the "crazies" that don't do too much... :-)

You'll recall from those conversations that I propose something that actually "works" for a change, which is getting state legislation that makes it mandatory for a candidate to produce his birth certificate or else he cannot be on the ballot...

But, then again, there are is a certain segment that love the crazy and incompetent lawyere, too... Orly Taitz...

That was pretty smart, getting Orly Taitz to work for you...

This is a McCain thread, right? I’m not supposed to be posting on what’s her name threads—and I’ve done really, really well with that 2010 resolution, too!

His loss and the tea party movement have started waking up the GOP. If he had won, the GOP would have split in two.

The Tea Party Movement would be "wandering in the wilderness" if you had McCain and Palin in office right now, that is, with a Republican Administration.

Yeah, the same Republicans that were voting with the Democrats just to get along with them in Washington. LOL

We wouldn’t have gotten:

Souter -> Sotomeyor

Agreed. Not Sotomayor.

At best we would have gotten an insipid luke-warm nebbish acceptable to the far left...

...in the spirit of bi-partisanship, and retching across the aisle.

The Tea Party was started by Ron Paul supporters. Libertarians.

I've been trying to think of a worse Republican to have, for a Republican Administration -- than Obama... sorry, I can't come up with one... LOL...

McInsane would have been much better in the short run, but probably worse in the long run. McCain would have led the GOP further into the wilderness and destroyed the conservatives within the GOP if he was elected. And, it would be the GOP who would be blamed for the financial debacle. How do you think the GOP would fare in the mid terms if McInsane was President?

Ummmm..., get on the "clue train" here...

Hey, ST ... we're talking about Tom Tancredo here. The only clues he's interested in are those that aid his hunger for self-promotion.

You wanted me to explain, that’s where this group has it’s roots. Love him or hate him, that’s where the roots of this movement comes from. It started in November 2007 on the heels of his biggest one day online campaign fundraising in December 2007.
