Fox Entertainment held a special session at the World Economic Forum in Davos with James Cameron, director of Avatar. Clips of the movie were shown and James talked about the making of the film. Here, he answers the questions: How did you make a 3D movie, and what is the future of 3D? James has "greyed out" a bit! http://www.economicvindicator.com/2010/02/james-cameron-talks-about-future-of-3d.html

No matter how many dimensions are possible in the playback medium, all of Cameron’s recent work is very one dimensional.

I haven’t seen the film, but just how good was the 3d?

I heard it wasnt any better than the old 3d.

The CGI was supposedly great and when ya do it all in IMAX that would be pretty great.

I also read that the plot plain sucked. “unobtainium”???

Comon. For a High budget film can we get a decent script?

Forget the 3D, James.

Try coming up with an original plot next time.

The 3D was excellent. I would like to see the film in IMAX but those theaters are some distance away. Script was a love story and a redemption story. The ham handed treatment of our corporations and our “military” was nonsense. However, the antagonists in the movie act just like communists do in real life. So the evil corporation really represents the mind set of the Chi Coms or the DPRK. And the evil marines really represent the “Peoples Liberation Army” of any two bit tin horn communist dictatorship. So with that in mind, enjoy.

Thanks.

The film seems to evoke a lot of emotion.
Lots of varied reports on how folks liked it.

The script was from, of course, "Dancing With Smurfs".

Most of the digital work was "old tech".

The future looks much better now that some artists with true sculptural talent are working in the medium.
