...So we are now being told that Patrick Kennedy, the third child of Ted and Joan Kennedy, will not seek re-election to the House of Representatives, representing Rhode Island. It would be easy to take a few parting shots at Patrick. But part of facing reality is giving up on facades, mirages and imagery. By the time Patrick came along, it was more like, “Oh, God… not another Kennedy!”

Patrick Kennedy's departure from national politics leaves no void. That's the bottom line. He will quietly be replaced and, unlike his uncles, Patrick will fade away. Not so, I fear, with the imagery left behind of Camelot. In fact, it was never any more real than the actors and sets that staged the play. If Patrick Kennedy will be remembered for anything besides his drinking and drug problems,it may well be how he demonstrated that, in the end, there was no Kennedy magic. It was all in our minds.

I'm from the land of the Kennedy's and have an Aunt who wanted to be buried with old Teddy. I thought it would be a good idea because he's so pickled she would last forever. I asked her if she wanted to end up where Teddy ended up and she said “Hell” no!!!!!!
