The Weird Failure of the Left

I'm starting to dread seeing the postal worker. That's when my leftist mate's magazines start showing up. Some days, it feels like Saul Alinsky himself has risen from the dead and invaded my mailbox.

Last month, Jon's Harper's Magazine wailed about the White Supremacy movement. But his March/April Mother Jones takes the paranoid cake.

The cover features the most despised life form on the planet: the white male. He's wearing a hoody and looking menacingly into the camera. The headline thunders: "Age of Treason. This Soldier Is Ready To Take Up Arms Against the Obama Administration. He's Not Alone."

The hit piece is all about the enemy within. But the author's not talking about those domestic terrorists who planned to bomb Jewish centers in New York. Not the infiltration of our military (our military!) by jihadist Muslims. Certainly not the far-left Obama-holic who killed her brother and blew the brains out of her University of Alabama colleagues.

It's something much more hair-raising: the God-fearing, conservative-voting, white male.

The author says this like it's a bad thing.

With the crazy path our nation has taken in the last year or so, and the purposefully failed policies being foisted upon our citizens on a daily basis, perhaps someday "taking up arms against the Obama administration" will be seen as a noble act of public service. Now of course it is more likely to earn you a visit from the SECRET Service, but we live in strange times, and more crazy things are coming down the pike.

Inside the mind of the typical lib is the belief that because “we (libs) care” about abstract “poor” people, they are superior. They cannot stand the idea that their social welfare programs are actually drags of the chances of poor people escaping poverty. They refuse to believe that unconditionally handing tax-payer funded goodies to people might have bad repercussions. It is very difficult, judging from conversations with a very liberal step-daughter, to disabuse them of that idea.

They are, after all, the (self) anointed elite. Just ask them. They proclaim themselves more intelligent, more wise, more thoughtful than the people who oppose their view of the universe, and all the while, their rhetoric has become more deceitful, more violent, darker, and more irrational.

I don't think this foray into lunacy is going to work out well for them. They can characterize the opposition as illiterate and crude, but opposition to them grows daily. The tide is turning against them. What are they going to do when their Messiah and his ilk are turned out of office by way of the ballot box? I cannot imagine this ending well.
