It begins: GOP inching away from campaign to repeal ObamaCare

The thinking is that it won’t play well in some states, like Illinois, where the GOP’s got a shot at an unlikely pick-up, so rather than push some monolithic “repeal it” message nationwide, they’re going to let local candidates decide how much they want to push it or not. Which is politically savvy, but not a big confidence-booster in terms of their determination to roll this thing back should they get the numbers in Congress to do so.

Top Republicans are increasingly worried that GOP candidates this fall might be burned by a fire that’s roaring through the conservative base: demand for the repeal of President Barack Obama’s new health care law…

Repeal is politically and legally unlikely, and grass-roots activists may feel disillusioned by a failed crusade. More important, say strategists from both parties, a fiercely repeal-the-bill stance might prove far less popular in a general election than in a conservative-dominated GOP primary, especially in states such as Illinois and California…

Asked if he advises Republican Senate candidates to call for repealing the law, Cornyn said: “Candidates are going to test the winds in their own states. … In some places, the health care bill is more popular than others.”

On Tuesday, Cornyn issued a 1,280-word campaign memo that mentioned “repeal” only once. It did not advocate repeal but noted that in a recent poll, “46 percent of respondents support a full repeal” of the health law.

I am not disappointed by the Republicans.

How can I be disappointed when I fully expected them to pussy out on this just like they do everything else.

The Republicans are going to act just like they always do, with their same tired old message of “Vote for us because we have a different name than those other guys”.

Quite frankly I blame the Republican party for the mess this country is in just as much as the Democrat/Communist party. The Republicans could have fought and stopped this. They chose not to. To hell with them. To hell with them all.

I’m in favor of conservatives taking back the Republican Party.

But if the GOP pushes through a RINO in 2012 as our nominee just as they did in 2008, and that RINO loses to Obama, then it’s time for the Tea Party to become an actual political party. The GOP has two chances left.....one in 2010 and the other in 2012. No more after that if they mess up.....

That is exactly why we cannot have Romney as the nominee. Talk about a disaster in the making with that guy. Also, it is too bad the Huckster likes spending money so much, he is a good guy and a great speaker.

RNC response to President Chaz Bono(D) in 2030:

The Republican Party is strongly opposed to the President's plan to undermine the nation's health care plan by extending it to dolphins.

We, as all good Americans, were happy to see former President Obama's health care initiative enacted into law in 2010. Although our party fought it at the time, we believe that we have been able to work with the Democrat party over the past 20 years to turn it into a workable plan that we can all be proud of.

We were very supportive of extending the plan to cover fertility treatments for gay couples, gender reassignment surgery, and even covering the more highly evolved apes such as gorillas and chimpanzees.

However we must stand opposed to this latest outrage. Dolphins simply are not intelligent enough to deal with the paperwork requirements of maintaining one's health in todays United States. And we are all aware that dolphins are not capable of holding pens and so are unable to fill out all the required forms.

Please stand with us in opposing this outrageous extension to a long-standing and honorable program that has helped so many Americans in so many ways.

Right on. If they win and suck then time to create a new party. If they lose because they won’t oppose then also time to create a new party. Also if they keep trying to push crap on us then it will be time to create a new party. They have no time to waste in doing the right things or the people will revolt and they will be as much disdained as the Democrats. And so another party will have to emerge.

I just called one of his Texas offices (his DC voice mail was full), and gave them an ear full!

I called his Texas office a few weeks back and spoke to one of his staffers; this poor guy was getting inundated with complaints that forced this idiot to “clarify” his statements.

I know we’re sick of it, but we must keep on letting idiots like this know, WE WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS POS LEGISLATION TO STAND!

Here are his office numbers…please call now!

No, Thank you!! We’ve got to keep encouraging each other in this fight. We can’t count on our GOP to stay vigilant on their own.

LOL. I'm sure ACORN will be glad to fill out the forms for the dolphins. And the Republicans will eventually see the light and support the idea, you'll see. Lindsey Graham has already had talks with some leaders in the Democratic Party about a bipartisan bill.

The question, however, is how we will finance the dolphin healthcare. With the national debt now at $200 trillion, it seems unlikely that Zimbabwe will be buying any more treasury bonds.
