Lawmakers: Afghan Leader Threatens to Join Taliban
Logans Warning ^ | April 5Th, 2010 | Christopher Logan

Posted on 04/05/2010 4:15:43 PM PDT by Islaminaction

Is this finally the last straw? Will we now wake up, and realize that we have no Muslim allies? They are using us for our money, and to gain power. In the end they will stand with Islam against us. It is time to bring the troops home, drill where we can, and end all Muslim immigration and aid. As I have been saying for years, it will be us or them. There will be no middle ground, so take a side.

I’m with you 100% in fighting the islamists. But making pretending all muslims are the same is ludicrous. Iraq will not ally with Iran, if for no other reason that they know the Iranian regime will be the next to go.

Some of us warned long ago about the follies and blowback of nation building and empire.

What did anyone expect? People in that part of the world are masters of intrigue and betrayal. It is only because of the hubris of empire that we thought we could uplift them. We are the fools, not them. The time to bring the troops home is long past.

It does not have to be all Muslims, but it comes a point in time when that does not matter.

they can say that Karzai was Taliban all along and GW Bush put him in power and supported a corrupt leader.

There ya go! Same as O'bumble touting drilling for domestic oil: they can say "no more war for oil." You know, like Bush and Cheney did....

Hate to break it to you, but the US will never adopt Ron Paul’s foreign policy.

Prove it.

Okay, I was wrong when I said you're right about a lot of things.

“AQ is just the tip of the iceburg.” That is the point, is it not? Your meanderings, are well known, are they not?

So you cannot deal with the reality of the Islamic world.

Let me know when we actually start winning this war.

Thanks.

You’re wrong about Karzai. Give him more time and get clarification on what he said and what he meant. YOU need to face the reality of the alliance built by the Bush administration and the way the Obamas are wrecking it. American lives are at stake, as well as those of our coalition partners. We are not going to cut and run, as you would like us to do. You are the one who does not understand America.

I am not an expert on islamism, but I know what it is and I know it is a threat and I know we need allies in the Middle East.

So you are talking about the same Karzai, that has an anti-American warlord as one of his VPs? YOU need to face the reality that the infidel does not get to dictate to Muslims what Islam is. They will stand with Islam over the infidel.
We cannot change the Islamic world, 8 years later, and you cannot figure that out. How many more troops should die?

Explain what I do not understand about America....we are not the magical country that change the world.

The problem is here now, the ME is the least of the problem.

From a mother who has a son in the US Military. Karzai only cares about being in power.

“We have to follow the Karzai 12 rules. But the Taliban has no rules,” he said. “Our soldiers have to juggle all these rules and regulations and they do it without hesitation despite everything. It’s not easy for anyone out here.”

“Karzai 12” refers to Afghanistan’s newly re-elected president, Hamid Karzai, and a dozen rules set down by Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, the commander of U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan, to try to keep Afghan civilian casualties to a minimum.

“It’s a framework to ensure cultural sensitivity in planning and executing operations,” said Capt. Thoreen. “It’s a set of rules and could be characterized as part of the ROE,” he said, referring to the rules of engagement.

Dozens of U.S. soldiers who spoke to The Washington Times during a recent visit to southern Afghanistan said these rules sometimes make a perilous mission even more difficult and dangerous.

Many times, the soldiers said, insurgents have escaped because U.S. forces are enforcing the rules. Meanwhile, they say, the toll of U.S. dead and injured is mounting.

By mid-November, Capt. Thoreen’s unit had lost five soldiers to suicide bombings and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Many more had been wounded and three of their Stryker vehicles had been destroyed.

In his Aug. 30 assessment of the situation in Afghanistan, which was leaked to the press, Gen. McChrystal said that the legitimacy of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) had been “severely damaged … in the eyes of the Afghan people” because of “an over-reliance on firepower and force protection.”

To succeed, he wrote, “ISAF will have to change its operating culture to pursue a counterinsurgency approach that puts the Afghan people first.” This entails “accepting some risk in the short term [but] will ultimately save lives in the long term.”

The Times compiled an informal list of the new rules from interviews with U.S. forces. Among them:

• No night or surprise searches.

• Villagers have to be warned prior to searches.

• ANA or ANP must accompany U.S. units on searches.

• U.S. soldiers may not fire at the enemy unless the enemy is preparing to fire first.

• U.S. forces cannot engage the enemy if civilians are present.

• Only women can search women.

• Troops can fire at an insurgent if they catch him placing an IED but not if insurgents are walking away from an area where explosives have been laid.

Muslims, while they expect submission from their people they are really about power and they will claim that power whatever way necessary, throw in money and they know no bounds. Afghanistan is different because there never was any cohesive government, they are a country ruled by tribes. Submit or die....if another war lord wants what you have, you can either join them or they will kill you, the people under the dead warlord then switch sides until someone stronger comes along. They are extremely primitive.

The ME was more settled when the Shah was in power...he ruled with an Iron Fist, the region knew it......he may have been Muslim but he loved the power and money that came along with being allied with the US, did he love us? I don’t believe he did, but it was in his best interest to align himself with us........then ole Jimmy Carter came along...he believed the Shah a brutal dictator, he was in our eyes but not in the eyes of the muslims........he was the strong horse. Once Iran was taken over by the extremists, the region became unsettled.

My brother has been in the ME for years...right now he is back in Baghdad, before that Afghanistan...when dealing with them, they will buck at you, you buck back they back down... They are constantly testing your resolve. Obama has no resolve whatsoever....God only knows what he said to Karzai in private! It is in Karzai’s best interest to have us in the region and he knows it. We leave he is dead...no elections....assassination and Lord knows who will be next...at least with Karzai there we have some power.......Obama will squander it, no doubt.

Karzai was furious.....Pakistan used that capture to get a seat at the table and Obama more than obliged..Obama is the one playing them off of each other.

I have heard this over and over from US Soldiers.
Thanks for your honesty, and good luck to your brother.

Obama will never accept Karzai because in his hateful mind, Karzai is GW’s boy....he would rather see Karzai ruined, blame him for the mess and then leave..he has no clue nor does he care...he dug the hole he is in by declaring Afghanistan the “real” war because Iraq was looking like a GW victory....he cannot let GW have any sort of recognition, that is why he is so much more dangerous......he would rather see the whole region explode than have GW’s finger prints anywhere and to hell with the blood of our Military.
