Unfortunately, this won’t lead to abstinence. It will just lead to more abortions.

I thought it was funny how Miss Palin wrote her message on her hand.

Trouble with teenagers is, they have too much raging hormones. We have seen lots of abstinence campiagns and TV ads before, and I am still not sure they stopped any horny teenagers from doing it.
I think the abstinence campaigns should be done hand in hand with contraption, just in case.

Abstinence and good parental supervision can greatly reduce the number of teen pregnancy. A parent just talking to their kid can also be very effective.

Not sure what a “contraption” is but it sounds dangerous.

university of Pittsburgh latest very well documented research ( in the Pediatrics Medical Journal) in a long term study showed that abstinance education was the best for results in LESS teen pregnancies.

Go with the research, not some ideas.

The press act like there is something wrong with her doing these ads. If Whoopy did them they would be ecstatic!

“Contraception”. Beg your pardon. No fearsome "contraption" here. :)
But yeah, good parental supervision, and a good loving family are essential for bringing up a well rounded confident child. However, even the best upbringing can still end up in a teenager getting pregnant. I think education about birth control should go hand in hand with abstinence, even if the two are somewhat contradictory.

One of the best deterrents for me was a peer who got pregnant, missed her junior year of high school and see all the pain she had to go through.

I agree. I had the loving family, the uber conservative christian upbringing, overprotective parents (supervision) and all I can say is that where there is a will, there is a way. IMO, my grandmother gave the best sex education advice of anyone. She told me never to date anyone I wouldn’t consider marrying (no losers) and pointing out that while sex before marriage is “sin”, failing to use protection could compound the problem. In otherwords, abstinence with birth control as a backup.

It was a great deterrent.

I thought it was a well done PSA. She has mothers looks and I think she’s as smart as Sarah is though her decision making was definitely not there two years ago. Gotta hand it to her for getting out there in the public spotlight; it was her own decision once she turned 18.
