Until 1913 it was unconstitutional for Congress to tax the income of Americans. Our founding fathers warned that if ever Congress acquired the power to tax the income of Americans, it would lead to the destruction of our Republic. They knew that letting Congress have control of our income would lead to a government more tyrannical than that of King George.

Our current government is more tyrannical than that of King George?

Did King George mandate low-flow toilets, compact florescent light bulbs, and seat belt usage? Did king George declare non-harmful gasses a pollutant and then seek to regulate its emission?

Did King George:
Dictate what our schools must teach, including evolution, homosexuality, transgenderism?
Dictate that we must register our guns, obtain permits to buy them, etc.?
Dictate that we must by gov’t-approved health insurance?
Dictate that we must pay up to 70% of our earnings in taxes?
Dictate that our milk must be pasteurized?

Except for coming with arms to take guns (which is what Paul Reverie's ride was all about), yes. In terms of percentage of taxes and percent representation, we are worse off now than then.

YES! He wasn’t taking 50% + out of our wallets.

Did they even have those things back then? Is the current administration pressing troops into service and declaring martial law, and making people put troops up in their homes, just to name a few?

No, he just put people in debtors prison and took everything they had, not just 50%.

Why would those 47-50% of the people I’ve heard about that do not pay taxes now, want to support the fair tax?

Support it? No, I suppose the people that do not pay taxes today would not want to pay taxes tomorrow either. That is true. But ... that doesn't make it a bad idea. The Fair Tax is a consumption tax. If and when the Fair Tax is enacted, these people will contribute their equitable share with every Che Guevara t-shirt they purchase whether they care to or not. (Sorry ... could not resist the stereotyping there.)

If it comes to a vote, they are very close to a majority. While it is a good idea, I doubt it will happen.
