We are still seven months until the midterm elections, so there is at least some possibility that the landscape could shift or that Democratic attacks on the GOP could keep Republican gains down to a minimum.
Substantial Republican gains are inevitable, with net Democratic losses now looking to be at least two dozen. At this point, GOP gains of 25-30 seats seem likely, though considerably larger gains in excess of 40 seats certainly seem possible.
We've moved 44 seats toward the Republicans and only 4 toward the Democrats.
Here are our latest House ratings.

How many seats needed to throw Nancy out of the Speaker’s Chair?
What did we lose the 06 election? I think we will pick those back up plus about 10 more.
41
40, I believe. But if dems hold the majority by the skin of their teeth, they may dump her themselves.
Now 41 is not a lot in the house of reps. Its been done a lot of times before. But, with this crew who simply have to have the Puuuuurfect candidate. I dont know if it can be done.
That should be the stated goal...take Nancy's gavel away.
Dems picked up 31 seats in '06, according to Wikipedia.
Ok..That is about in line what I was thinking. I figure up to 55 seats will be taken. We might have a slim chance at the Senate after looking at the races.
I’m thinking that in the next Congress the Dem caucus will look even more looney than the present one, as so called “moderates” will be the first to go this time. This will marginalize them even further.
What do you think?
It’s 41 but the number shifts with some swing in actual fact.
It takes but a majority of the seats.
But with donks trying the un-Constitutional trick of getting a DC delegate it could change.
I like that Bachmann’s been dropped off the in-play list.
I saw that.
They’ve been trying to marginalize her. Pelosi has targeted her personally.
Glad to see those tactics have failed.
Rep. Boozman (R-AR, 3rd District) announced he is running for the US Senate seat.
If he is successful in the primary, that Rep seat will be open.
I haven’t heard whether he is doing a Kay Bailey Hutchison — saying he will resign only if he wins the Senate primary.
Nancy said a lot of things. She manages to be correct even less often than the Community-Organizer-in-Chief, which is quite an accomplishment.
So does the GOP win the house this November? I’m thinking it does with a solid majority.
Not so easy, but possible. If you want to keep abreast of it, see my tagline and bookmark the website, which was created by a couple of FReepers.
I cant disagree with you there.
I feel that those moderate dems will move to the ‘I’ column en mass.
