Reporter asks black protester if he's "uncomfortable" as part of tea party
The Washington Examiner ^ | April 16, 2010 | J.P. Freire, Associate Commentary Editor

NBC News reporter Kelly O'Donnell asked Darryl Postell, a black man at a tea party rally held Thursday in Washington: "There aren't a lot of African-Americans at these events. Have you ever felt... uncomfortable?" Postell replied, "No, no, these are my people, Americans."

(VIDEO AT LINK)

O'Donnell's question wasn't the only one addressing race at tea parties. Politico asked one white tea party protester about how she could spot an "infiltrator" -- a liberal posing as a tea party protester -- and she said that more "racially-oriented signs" were a giveaway. "This movement is not about race. My husband and I are an interracial copuple. He's African American. We don't make this party about race, we make it about principles." Video below:

It didn't occur to me, by the way, to ask Richard if he felt uncomfortable. But maybe that's because he was right at home:

I didn't see any uncomfortable looking people yesterday, until the commie agitators showed up.

These little girls were relaxed and happy, no way were they frightened in the least. We want things that way, it makes for a great day!

Sea plants have more brains than people at MSNBC.

Tunicates eat their brains after they've anchored in one place.

Why didn’t the reporter just come out and ask him what it feels like to be an “Uncle Tom?”Talk about gall.

I believe social media and email are two of the most powerful tools we have in countering the lies and spin.

Please forward these links to anyone who has been lied to by the media and politicians about the Tea Party Movement.

"You, and people like you, are the only ones who can speak out and alter the trajectory. Everyone else gets branded racist."

While I certainly am delighted to have such a clear thinking American as Mr. Windflier on our side, I have to respectfully disagree with this statement.

We can all help change the trajectory. In certain circles, Mr. Windflier will be more effective because of race considerations (not to mention he certainly "gets it"). However, as is clear from some of his posts, even he is branded a racist for speaking his mind. Sure, non-black conservatives will be more likely to get branded as racist (maybe), but so what?

Uncountably many Americans have literally given their lives to defend our freedom. Subjecting ourselves to a charge of "racist" is a small sacrifice in comparison. That said, I congratulate Mr. Windflier for clearly being willing to make it. Let's follow his example and accept that burden, too, and not let it keep us from speaking out in defense of our freedom - freedom for all Americans regardless of race from bloated overbearing government.

You made me get something in my eye with that. I hadn't even stopped to consider that my melanin deprived brethren would likely feel just as responsible for spreading the conservative word to the minority community as I do.

Thank you so much for your kind words and your courageous stand for our Founding Principles.

What shocks me are my friends who are against homosexual marriage, abortion and recognize the role welfare plays in the destruction of the family, yet they vote Democrat. It is utterly irreconcilable with their belief system.
