Is Goldman Obama's Enron? No, it's worse (Updated)
Washington Examiner ^ | 4/21/10 | J.P. Freire

Campaign contributions from Goldman Sachs employees to President Obama are nearly seven times as much as President Bush received from Enron workers, according to numbers on OpenSecrets.org.

President Bush's connections to Enron were well-hyped during the company's accounting debacle that rippled through the economy. Time magazine even had an article called, "Bush's Enron Problem." The Associated Press ran with the headline, "Bush-backing Enron makes big money off crisis." David Callaway wrote that Enron for Bush was worse than Whitewater for Clinton.

It should be. His administration is well represented by Goldman Sachs. Also the money donated to his campaign and his cronies.

Not where it should.

But considering our media and how they protect Bambi, it's gotten quite a bit of traction already.

Gibbs said today that 0bama did not get any Goldman Sachs money and was not giving any back. Sounds like it is a cosed case.

Obama can't have an "Enron."

When will people get a clue?

Nope. Like the typical SEC case, it will drag on for three to five years, then settle with a fine that sounds like a lot of money but is sawdust on the floor for GS.

Goldman execs will laugh about the case once it is over and Greg Craig will thank Obama for the billable hours.

I'm sure it is worse than Enron.

But then, so was Dodd & Franks' muddling in the mortgage markets. So was Rangle's tax evasion. So was Clinton's sexual harrassment, perjury and obstruction of justice. Hillary's cattle futures. Feinstien's steering contracts to her husband's company while a member of the Sentate Panel on Military Construction. And on and on and on

The MSM knows by now that if they don't start the drumbeat, the people will never care enough to force anyone to do anything about it, no matter how outrageous.

Exactly! The script as written (Wow! Has it really a hundred years now?) has Republicans as the lackeys of greedy business interests grasping for "one dollar more" and Dems as the selfless champions of the common man.

This will not register with anyone outside the conservative movement even if the media bothers to report on it.

Anyone else old enough to remember “Lttle Orphan Annie” in the funnies? Daddy Warbucks represents the greedy republican.

Does Daddy Warbucks eventually come around and support the New Deal?

But Alan Colmes was on Megyn Kelly’s show today saying that all those donations to the BigBummer is no big deal. It’s just politics.

The only way for Obama to have an “Enron” would be if he refused to help them get through their crisis, and they went into bankruptcy as a result.

Enron asked Bush for help and he refused. Goldman Sachs asked for help and Obama handed them a blank check good for all the money in the world.
