Texas Governor Perry Lays the Smackdown on a Coyote

Every time I read something about Texas I like it more and more. Just this morning I was scrolling through the news and found this:

Texas gov. shoots, kills ‘wily’ coyote during jog

AUSTIN, Texas – Pistol-packing Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a message for wily coyotes out there: Don’t mess with my dog.

Perry told The Associated Press on Tuesday he needed just one shot from the laser-sighted pistol he sometimes carries while jogging to take down a coyote that menaced his puppy during a February run near Austin.

Perry said he will carry his .380 Ruger — loaded with hollow-point bullets — when jogging on trails because he is afraid of snakes. He’d also seen coyotes in the undeveloped area.

When one came out of the brush toward his daughter’s Labrador retriever, Perry charged.

“Don’t attack my dog or you might get shot … if you’re a coyote,” he said Tuesday.

That, ladies and gentleman, is plain awesome. Can anyone picture Deval Patrick or Martin O’Malley doing this? Didn’t think so.

Not only did he smoke the thing, but he used a laser sight and put the coyote down relatively painlessly:

Perry said the laser-pointer helped make a quick, clean kill.

“It was not in a lot of pain,” he said. “It pretty much went down at that particular juncture.”

Texas state law allows people to shoot coyotes that are threatening livestock or domestic animals. The dog was unharmed, Perry said.

I’m starting to think that killing coyotes should be a requirement to be Governor of any state...

At first glance I thought he was referring to the two legged coyotes that walk up right, and was wondering why he wouldn’t carry a .357 snub nose instead of a .380.

The two legged Coyotes were put down with authority last night in PHX by the Red Wings 6-1.

There is something to be said for putting a small caliber bullet on target versus a bigger caliber bullet in the general area. The gun that is more comfortable to carry will be the gun that doesn’t get left behind.

He’ll shoot a mangy coyote animal, but he has no problems watching ‘coyotes’ shovel 1000s of illegals into the state each week.

Perry is such a fraud

The article left out the best line at the end of the article in the Austin American Statesman. After Perry said the coyote didn't feel much pain and went down after being shot, he said, "He became mulch."

I laughed and almost got coffee on the keyboard after reading that.

Gee, it took 10 whole post before the first Falconer raised his ugly head and managed to embarrass himself. How many coyotes has your candidate killed? Are the Falconers on alert at the border to stop the illegals Perry won't stop?

You convince no one with your bleating.

We have coyotes in our neighborhood. People keep their cats and small dogs inside.

In Texas coyote is pronounced "Kai-yoat." Rhymes with "goat." At least that is how my parents pronounced it. Dad grew up on a Texas ranch and used to shoot coyotes as pests.

Wow, Perry and I carry the same caliber. Except being unemployed I could only afford a Kel-Tec P3AT. But you can’t tell it’s in my pocket.

The east coast is swarming with ‘yotes’. I’ve seen them right out in the pasture with my horses and some of them are quite healthy looking. I usually keep a varmint gun of some sort available when I’m outside just in case I see one.
