PA12: Palin Picks a Winner
The Other McCain ^ | 4/29/2010 | Robert Stacy McCain

Posted on 04/29/2010 5:40:32 AM PDT by curth

What do you do when you’re a Republican in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and you’ve just stomped Nancy Pelosi’s handpicked Democrat into smithereens in a public debate for the congressional seat formerly held by the late Jack Murtha? Tim Burns headed straight to Coney Island Lunch for the world-famous “Sundowner” burger.

The Johnston Tribune-Democrat story about the debate is so “fair and balanced” as to be soporific. It’s 3 a.m., I’ve just driven 240 miles round-trip and I’m too tired to give you the full gonzo account until I get a few hours of sleep. But the neutral objective fact is that Burns wiped the floor with Critz so bad, it reminded me of when the Alabama Crimson Tide made Tim Tebow cry.

How good is Burns? Driving home, I called Pamela Geller and told her, “You’re gonna love Tim Burns. And not just the Let’s-Call-Islamic-Jihad-What-It-Is factor. Frankly, this guy makes Scott Brown look homely by comparison.” (On the other hand, Burns doesn’t have a 6-foot-tall “American Idol” singer in his family.)

Sources close to the Burns campaign informed me that, in the first 72 hours after Sarah Palin’s endorsement Monday, the campaign collected more than $80,000 in contributions — but don’t stop now, folks. The special election is May 18 — just 19 days away. Pelosi and Obama are pouring big money into this district trying to hold onto Murtha’s seat, and the Burns campaign will need every nickel you can spare.

I’ll have much more to report later Thursday. Thanks to Tim Burns for being a good sport, and thanks to his campaign staff for their cooperation. Thanks to Da Tech Guy for the continuing loan of his increasingly famous fedora. Thanks to Chris Renner for valuable assistance. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Shoe Leather Fund to pay for this road trip. And thanks to Mrs. Other McCain, for letting me make this trip on our 21st wedding anniversary.

Regular folks barely have money to get by. If you are blessed enought to have discretionary money these special elections are important . . . well worth a donation if you are looking for maximum impact for your dollars when the candidate has a chance.

Yes, even $10 can make a difference if you can spare it. Don’t forget HI-1, Charles Djou (R) either. Special Election is on May 22.

You are right that is what I would call Palin Power.

Great guy it seems. The only thing I wished was that he had more than just a Bachelor’s Degree. He graduated in 1986 from high school and had plenty of time to get a Master’s Degree. Otherwise, he is outstanding...My family lives in this district and will be voting for him...I will suggest he get his Master’s degree in the next two years....lol. Just kidding.

A degree does not give one common sense. For some, it just makes them educated fools.

A degree shows you completed something and makes a person well rounded. Some FREEPERS are very anti-education or at least getting a college degree. Not sure where or why that attitude is here. Sure some people with degrees turn liberal but not everyone...many people with GEDs and high School grads are just as liberal.

I’m certainly not anti-education. Its just that I’ve met many with degrees who are educated fools. In today’s society one needs more than a high school diploma.

I have met some of those folks too. Luckily they don’t hold any major responsibility like governing. The congress is a difficult place to work which makes them look as if they are stupid...if we don’t agree with a person’s politics, we tend to think they are dumb.

Unless you are going to be a Dr., the higher Degrees are meaningless.
Lincoln did just fine with his two years of formal education.

Can you seriously compare Lincoln to today’s world...if only life would be so simple. lol. You have a point but seriously life was not as difficult as it is today. (I know they had other things going on but it seems like today the stress level of people is through the roof.)
