Signs read "Asians are not punching bags" and "stop racial violence." While organizers admit that the victims, particularly Chinese-Americans, have been reluctant to report and express public outrage over incidents in the past, the community seems united now. After an emotional two-hour session of testimony at last Tuesday's Board of Supervisor's meeting, Asian victims are speaking up and working hard to make sure the media focuses on the incidents.
At Tuesday's rally victims were encouraged to record their stories on video and to write out the details on cards and place them in a note box. Li says the hope is the notes and the videos will eventually be posted on a web site.
