Thought you nature lovers would be interested in seeing the peregrine falcons and their hatchlings. This is a live webcam, and there is a button where you can toggle between the two nesting sites.
they’re beautiful. but I don’t see anything.
The Cathedral site has the best view of the babies. The Gulf Tower site — Mama bird shields the babies. Occasionally, she moves enough that you can see them, but you have to just keep watching.
whoa.
Isn’t that the neatest couple of pages:) Amazing and cute!!!
Not long ago, the falcons were endangered. They have made a remarkable comeback.
In a really, really ‘harsh’ environment. Don’t the Greenies claim that that spotted owls need 2000 acres to procreate??? And the peregrines, on their own, nest on the sides of a couple of skyscrapers in busy, noisy urban settings.
Thanks so much! My daughter went to Pitt - I’m sure she’ll enjoy seeing this.
That is kewl!
Fun site! Have sent it to my granddaughter.
The birds just started to nest here some years ago on their own. They apparently like the food we offer — they eat a lot of pigeons.
LOL...in that case, look for a soon to be third nest down in Market Square :)
The falcons like really tall buildings — not sure if anything in Market Square would suffice. But they don’t seem to have any trouble finding a meal. From the Gulf Tower they aren’t that far away from dinner. There are also a lot of pigeons near the Cathedral. In fact, those pests are everywhere.
love it! Thanks
NEAT! THANKS!
