NPR Tries to Cast Rand Paul as KKK Sympathizer
Publius Forum ^ | 05/20/10 | Warner Todd Huston

On the day after his historic primary win, National Public Radio rabidly went after Rand Paul, newly minted GOP nominee for Kentucky Senator, trying to make him out to be a KKK sympathizer or perhaps a racist that would have agreed to keep Jim Crow alive and well in 1964. This rabid, left-wing attack is uncalled for and, further, is meant only to stir anti-Republican hatred and not to help voters discover anything relevant about nominee Rand Paul.

Nearly at the top of the interview the host of NPR's All Things Considered tried to paint Mr. Paul as some sort of hater that would have opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Catch this loaded and irrelevant question by NPR:

You've said that business should have the right to refuse service to anyone and that the Americans for Disabilities Act, the ADA, was an over reach by the federal government, would you say the same by extension of the 1964 Civil Rights Act?
Paul gave a very good reply but the best thing he said was that he hadn't read through the entire 1964 legislation because it had been passed 40 years ago and didn't have any role in today's campaign. And that is just it, isn't it? The 1964 Civil Rights Act is ancient history as far as current politics goes. It is fully accepted and is not a law in dispute, nor does it have any part in current political discussion. The law is fact the legitimacy of which no one questions. Talking about the 1964 Civil Rights Act is not relevant alt all to today's issues...

This outfit gets government funds and it is proof positive why Obama and the Democrats support them. They are a propaganda machine for the Democrats. If this is what we are coming to it is time to revolt.

Maybe. I've read some of the position stuff from UK "Libertarians". They sound more like Seattle Socialist/Anarchists than anything. "Property is theft" and all that crap. They really took a wrong turn somewhere in the philosophy.

When it comes to political parties, exceptions to the rule appears to be a rule in and of itself.

He took a chance. Like most good people, you don't expect to face such blatant two-faced hostility from an open invitation.

NPR "Sure. Come on in. It'll be a nice interview and you can get your opinions out to the people."

Rand "Oh... Ok. Thanks!"

NRP "BTW... Why DO you have sex with kittens? When did you stop beating your wife? Can we quote you that you agree that cannibalism is ok in some circumstances?"

Well, what would expect from pigs that feed at the government trough?

NPR depends upon the largesse of Congress for funding. Rand Paul is against such funding.

All politics in America is not local but ultimately racial.

LOL -— A lot of truth in what you say. And most of what they did was to maintain their power. Democrats do things like this, still today.

Defund the Left.

I have been saying this since 1994.

They should talk to Sen Byrd while they still have time.

Every time the left says "racist" the right should scream his name! Hypocrits!

Won’t work. Republicans already tried this lie against Ron Paul for years.

It’s something I point out when people bitch about how long THE Iraq war was.

It was 2 different situations.

Saddam was toppled and we then ended up fighting against the insurgency WITH Iraqis, not against them.

Truth be told, the Iraq War stretches back to the first gulf war. When Saddam broke the peace by seeking weapons he’d agreed not to possess or pursue, the war was on again.

You would think though that by now Rand should know what the Left is all about, that he still doesn’t, or at least didn’t before the interview, indicates to me he is still a little wet behind the ears. Fortunately they showed their hand long before the election and now Paul can prepare accordingly.

This is his first run at an Office isn’t it? He seems to be doing relatively well so far.

He is repeatedly ripping leftists new ones and that is a great thing, they are counter attacking and he needs to be prepared for the onslaught. I am glad he won, I think he will beat the dem but not without successfuly fending off the demonic rage of the Leftist media.

So why did he go on Maddow’s show?

That's where he announced his candidacy.

How that didn't raise eyebrows around here, I'll never understand.

I agree. The bad part about being principled is that it takes a certain amount of honesty and brain power. Not a good combination in a political aspiree as it tends to create blind spots your detractors can strike at you from.

"I wouldn't do that to them, so maybe they won't do it to me."

"That person said they were my friend and we had common goals. They would never stab me in the back just for political gain would they? I wouldn't do it to them..."

Etc...

Is Rand Paul AN IDIOT?

Does he plan to repeal the civil rights laws?

NO? Then why THE HELL did he get off the message(low taxes, limited govenment, etc.)?

This is the stuff liberal reporers just set off an media feeding frenzy.

It’s bad enough the media has painted the Tea Party movement as racist. Now Paul has just donned the hood and sheets on the best hope to rein in the obama red hordes.
The GOP ...The STUPID PARTY.....
