Episode 20 of the Shrugging Out Podcast: What Have We Learned (about Shrugging Out)?

A great show (and essay, in my humble opinion) in which we review the key topics covered in the prior 19 episodes:

- Ayn Rand and her epic novel, “Atlas Shrugged”.

- Collectivism, individualism, and the TRUE nature of man.

- The flow of events—Short-term chaos, long-term trends.

- Generational Dynamics: The most accurate model of historical cycles based on the flow of human generations.

- The “crash” of 2008 was just a warning of what’s coming—and we haven’t heeded it.

- Don’t bet your future on political change.

- “Shrugging Out” combines the concepts of Atlas Shrugged and Modern Survivalism.

- “Galt’s Gulch” is not a place you can escape to (but you can "shrug out", nevertheless), and

- The most important modern survival tool is your mind.

Ultimately, now that the American idea has been brought to the world and has lived in our hearts for over 200 years, it cannot be extinguished. Not as long as there lives an American who remembers, and believes.

i’m thinking about getting a t-shirt and/or a bumper sticker that says:

GONE GALT

maybe add to the t-shirt: “find someone else to pay for your liberal crap”

Do Community Agitators read Atlas Shrugged? I don't think they do.

I sure have. I am honestly skeptical, though I would probably lose some of that with more study and a visit. Maybe someday. Thanks.

I’m sure it would sell, Sten. You have at least one buyer here!

YHAOS, you have OBAMA nailed--he is just an agitator. I'm not sure he is deliberately trying to destroy the US, but he is certainly trying to transfer the wealth from people he thinks have stolen it (and some have, honestly) to people who haven't earned it or had it stolen from them.

At this point, I am almost rooting for the collapse as the quickest way to end the 70+ years of accumulated nonsense versus trying to reverse it politically--though if the latter is possible, we should try.

I know you hear a lot about Islamic terror, kidnappings and all that, but from what I understand they are in the far South, very far away from the main islands and even hard to get to. Many say you can live very comfortably there on $500-1,500 month total, depending on which area you reside in.

"At this point, I am almost rooting for the collapse as the quickest way"

I can dig your sentiments, though I think for the sake of our posterity, that is not what we would wish.
