Whether socialism works of not depends on how you define, “works”. If you want to establish an elite that lords it over the poor (everyone not of the elite class) for the enrichment of the elite, it works like a charm.

It's what those in power call any attempt to establish a competing power structure. Whether or not it fails is immaterial.
The problem with socialism is that it rewards the laziest, most stupid, drunkard while punishing the hardest working and brightest. That is a recipe for disaster anywhere except the mind of a liberal.
Check your premises. If you find a contradiction, then one of your premises is wrong. Socialism works great for the elitist controlling class. It is not intended to bring prosperity to the people, but rather total control over it. And in that regard, it is hugely successful.
I don’t know; socialists always say they want everyone equal.
It HAS worked - everyone equally poor.

Typically before sedition becomes organized, the old order labels it as the ultimate terror: "Chaos" and "Anarchy", as if those were the only alternatives to the old order.

The problem with socialism is that it is fundamentally immoral. That’s why it doesn’t work.
Too bad socialists run our educational institutions. Young people have not been exposed to the real economic and social history of socialism nor have they been exposed to the ideology of constitutonal freedom.
Socialism is the ultimate form of selfishness.
