No its called the Socratic Method wherein one gets to the truth by asking questions to check for fallacies. And BTW usually when the questioned one runs and hides it means the questioner just got close to the truth that the questioned one is trying to not reveal.
First writing your own words at your own blog doesn’t magically give them weight. The restrictions on vanities are only against posting them under news topics.
Many have posted their own here at FR without complaint as lng as the are not masquerading as a news article. And if the vanity ask a question concerning a rifle or pistol, bonus points are awarded.
Really? then you should probaly explain that to the copyright office because they say just by writing or typing them or posting them to your blog site creates a copyright.
Are you trying to claim an excerpted vanity is more acceptable than posting the entire vanity?
Concerning copyrights: Are you claiming a different copyright protection for your writing posted on a blog versus posted on your own FR thread?
Vanity is a posting without an external source and links, and wouldn't be considered a blog being a blog has its own web space.
If one posts on FR the entire work (as explained upthread) then you have a diluted copyright being it gives the owner of the site some rights to the work and you have no control over it the rights he has.
However if you excerpt the work and post it then the owner of the website does not have the completed work and only has a limited right to the portion excerpted. You retain complete control over the completed work which is desirable if you wish to sell the work later.
Who has a blog site on FR? How would that work?
The point is that this is Jim Robinson's forum and his alone. It's a very good one for his purposes and he's created a virtual community.
I am not a fan of Google or its other properties, but they give me a free forum and I'm happy using the for that purpose. I am not aware of any benefit they derive from my using Blogspot. I do not receive any income from it and the lone public service announcement that appears on it is innocuous enough that I'm not going to leave.
In the other hand, the C3POs on this site prefer to link directly to Google owned YouTube sites that generate revenue for Google. so, what would you rather have if you don't like Google: giving hits to Google owned sites that generate revenue for Google, or to an embedded video on my site that is not surrounded by revenue generating ads for Google?

My thought on that matter is, choosing between a Google public service ad or a similar ad on Free Republic, I'd choose FR. That said, I understand you wanting a place to call your own apart from FR. I, too, have a site that I own. The cost is nominal and I have full control over what is posted without any ads or announcements from any other sources. It's not a blog in the sense that I post something daily or even promote it elsewhere. I use it primarily to share stories and photos with family and close friends.

Use the profile page as a blog home page. A while back I modified my profile to include 20 plus things about my outlook on politics for anyone that might care to know. I have no idea if anyone has looked but it's there just the same.
Similarly, a blogger on FR could post the most recent article there along with links to previously posted articles. As for examples, in the past I have enjoyed following ongoing threads such as the Atlas Shrugged book club, the Astronomy Pic of the Day, FR's Finest, Amy's Place, and others. While you may not rate these as blogs, the potential for a blog similar to what you have at Google is there. You'd have to know a little html editing, but nothing major.

Agreed. Not comparing ideology, the daily kos was founded by one person and attracted bloggers. Politico was founded by two editors from the washington post and is a home for bloggers. I accept that FR is not set up for ready-made blogging but if blogs originated here, there is the potential to attract bright conservative minds, promote the site, and promote conservative thinking.
