Petraeus isn’t a liberal weenie, like McCrystal.

Don’t bet on any changes. If you think Patraeus is in control, you lose.

They couldn’t be adjusted before?

Why would you say that?

Do you really think Obama will "fire" a second General, especially one trying to win the war?

You may be correct but I would put my faith in Patreaeus doing what is necessary and blowing the whistle on Obaman if he tries to undercut the war effort.

Patraeus will have a period of time when he can do anything he wants . . . Obama will not/can not fire him so soon after this firing . . . and Obama cannot pick a fight with him for that reason.

::::::::::::::

I would agree completely with you if we were dealing with a rational, capable leader. But we are not. And we are dealing with a Muslim sympathizer.

Let’s see;

1. McCrystal was a subordinate to Petraeus
2. Did Petraeus have any say in the current ROE’s?
3. Who will take over as commander of CENTCOM?
4. Will Petraeus have to run both now?
5. Does anyone expect any “meaningful” changes to the ROE?

LOL\

Like “Nothing larger than a single MK82 to be dropped on a single compound” ?

or

“No more than 300 rds of 30mm cannon fire at a signle IED emplacer, but unlimited 30mm if a party of 4 or larger is identified”?

For real, be interesting to see what is new or different - centainly none of this Condition 3 (no round chambered) outside the wire silliness...

No, my post said what I meant. Obama will be discredited if he can’t get along with either of these two generals. He HAS to get along with Patreaus. So Patreaus has a free hand.

"Don’t bet on any changes. If you think Patraeus is in control, you lose."

My impression is that he only accepted his 'demotion' on himself being the one to run the war.

I could be wrong - or just wishful thinking - but he did not have to accept Obama's offer.

so does this mean there will be a “surge” on capitol hill?

That crossed my mind during last year's 9/12 rally. With more than a million on hand, I thought to myself... we could take this Capitol!

Don’t bet on any changes. If you think Patraeus is in control, you lose.

If he appears to be in charge, look for the smoke and mirrors. The Constitution allows the civilian administration to run the military. And unfortunately, that includes micromanagement.

With these people everything is misdirection.

That is why Petraeus should now go General Pershing on the Taliban and screw Obama. Petraeus has the backing of the lap-dog left-wing commentators of how "brilliant" this pick was. Shove it right up MSNBC's arse! FULL FORCE!

“If you think Patraeus is in control, you lose.”

Well, if that’s what you meant ... I’d say that sentiment is wrong. Petraeus IS in (effective) control. He has Obama over a barrel and can call the shots. And that’s what your later posts seem to imply. So your posts seem to contradict each other, leaving the reader confused.

I'd go to the old western - "Shoot first, ask questions later" Rules of engagement.

At least this is a positive development out of all of this mess.

I think you are right: Patreaus can do whatever he wants with the resources he has, AND if he wants more and asks for the resources loudly the left almost have to give it to him.
