so does this mean there will be a surge on capitol hill? That crossed my mind during last year's 9/12 rally. With more than a million on hand, I thought to myself... we could take this Capitol!

Dont bet on any changes. If you think Patraeus is in control, you lose. If he appears to be in charge, look for the smoke and mirrors. The Constitution allows the civilian administration to run the military. And unfortunately, that includes micromanagement.
With these people everything is misdirection.

Patraeus will have a period of time when he can do anything he wants . . . Obama will not/can not fire him so soon after this firing . . . and Obama cannot pick a fight with him for that reason. That is why Petraeus should now go General Pershing on the Taliban and screw Obama. Petraeus has the backing of the lap-dog left-wing commentators of how "brilliant" this pick was. Shove it right up MSNBC's arse! FULL FORCE!

Well, if that’s what you meant ... I’d say that sentiment is wrong. Petraeus IS in (effective) control. He has Obama over a barrel and can call the shots. And that’s what your later posts seem to imply. So your posts seem to contradict each other, leaving the reader confused.

I'd go to the old western -
"Shoot first, ask questions later" Rules of engagement.
At least this is a positive development out of all of this mess.

I think you are right: Patreaus can do whatever he wants with the resources he has, AND if he wants more and asks for the resources loudly the left almost have to give it to him.
