With todays cars and not many manual window cranks what do we do if we go in the water?

Windows are DC power and will work when you hit the water — lower them IMMEDIATELY.

They worked every possible scenario of a car going under and that was the safest, short of having one of those window busters (which I keep in all my cars).

Pull a beeber out of the glove compartment and stune the closest window.

Leave your paramour there and call your lawyer.

Seriously - good question. I guess the electronics would be fried before the point you could open the door.

Buy a window punch and put it in the glovebox. Or, don’t drive into the water.

"Windows are DC power and will work when you hit the water — lower them IMMEDIATELY."

Perfect, simple sense.

The electric motor in your window will probably keep working while submerged, electronics aren’t as sensitive to water as Hollywood makes out. The big thing in water is fast or patient, either get your door/ window open IMMEDIATELY (before the pressure builds) or wait until the cabin is almost completely filled with water (ie after the pressure is gone). The big thing is don’t panic. If you try to open your door and it won’t budge don’t keep fighting it, the pressure has built up and all you’ll do is tire yourself out, get to where the air is (which ever part of your vehicle is sinking the slowest), take full deep breaths until the air pocket is almost gone, then one more biggie to hold, by that point pressure should be equalized and your doors should be easy to open.

Electric windows work in fresh water.

Kick out the windshield (before water is pressing on it ) or after the cabin’s filled with water... Carry a ping hammer - knock out a window. Buy a low end model Ford - they still have roll windows... Go to your local Honda dealer and complain about “no roll windows”... Get a car with a manual sun roof that you can climb out of... It’s an issue in Florida - choose to live someplace with less water...
