I am an African American woman who is the Republican candidate for Illinois State Senate in the 43rd District. I am a wife, stay at home mother, education reformer, and professional accountant. The trifecta of marriage, mortgage, and motherhood catapulted me into the independent thinker that I am today. I am a fresh face with bold ideas who has one objective: good government.
I am simply one mom who has had enough of the waste, corruption and mismanagement in Illinois. I am one mom versus the machine, a machine that has decimated Illinois with deficit spending, job killing taxes and fees, onerous regulations, and a culture of corruption that has made Illinois a national disgrace - these are the same policies the nation is now witnessing under this administration.
I am pro-life, pro 2nd Amendment, pro-family and support Constitutionally limited government. So, just a few months ago when it was brought to my attention that no one was challenging formerly appointed State Senator and Obama’s friend, Arthur J. Wilhelmi, in my senate district; I decided to run. With the help of tea party activists I secured over 2,100 petition signatures in two weeks and was placed on the November ballot.

I wish you well in your campaign! I beg to differ with you on one point. IMHO you are an American, not a hyphenated American.
The state house races this year are especially important. Its the state legislatures that will be doing the reapportionment next year from the results of the census.
Boston Blackie's owners arrested in check-kiting scheme (Illinois Senate Race)

A father and son who operated the Boston Blackie's burger restaurants were charged Thursday with ripping off nearly $1.9 million from two banks in a check-cashing scheme, and authorities said they arrested the father on the US border as he was trying to enter Canada.
The allegations caused a new round of political embarrassment for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate and state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, whose family owns Broadway Bank and has long known the father and son.
The Blackie's operators are accused of writing bad checks from their accounts at Broadway to other banks as part of their alleged scheme. Longtime Blackie's operator Nick Giannis gave Giannoulias more than $114,000 in campaign contributions for his treasurer and Senate campaigns. Giannoulias was in a state of "shock and disbelief" at the news, according to his campaign, which announced he would donate an equivalent amount to local charities.
Giannis, 62, his son, Chris, 38, and restaurant manager Andy Bakopoulos, 38, were charged with defrauding Charter One and Washington Mutual banks. Chris Giannis also was charged with two counts of being an organizer of a continuing financial crimes enterprise. Nick Giannis was arrested by US Customs and Border Protection officers in Detroit while attempting to enter Canada after he failed to surrender to authorities and investigators sent out a nationwide alert.
Prosecutors said the men participated in a so-called check-kiting scheme in which they wrote checks from bank accounts that didn't have enough money and deposited those checks at Charter One and Washington Mutual. They then withdrew money from their Charter One and Washington Mutual accounts before the checks actually cleared, or in some cases stopped payments on the checks. It’s a rough way to start the weekend. Chicago Tribune header: Alexi Giannoulias, the Democrat running for President Barack Obama’s Illinois Senate seat this fall, woke up this morning to see his face blazoned across the top of the Chicago Tribune with the headline:

Fitzgerald: "In the governor's words -- governor's words, quote, 'Fire all those bleeping people. Get them the bleep out of there. And get us some editorial support', close quote. And the bleeps are not really bleeps." (snip)
Fitzgerald: "A month or so ago a $1.8 billion tollway project was announced. While that tollway project was being announced, Governor Blagojevich was privately seeking to have a person benefiting from that contract raise $100,000 in contributions, and privately the government (sic) said, 'I could have made a larger announcement but wanted to see how they would perform by the end of the year. If they don't perform, bleep 'em.' That's a quote. And the word 'bleep' was not the word he used." (snip)
Fitzgerald: "The governor's own words describing the Senate seat, quote, 'It's a bleeping valuable thing -- thing. You just don't give it away for nothing', close quote."
Fitzgerald: "Another quote, 'I've got this thing, and it's bleeping golden. And I'm just not giving it up for bleeping nothing. I'm not going to do it, and I can always use it; I can parachute me there,' quote. Those are his words, not our characterization, other than with regard to the bleep."
Fitzgerald: "The tapes reveal that Governor Blagojevich wanted a number of things in exchange for making the appointment to the Senate seat -- an appointment as secretary of health and human services or an ambassadorship, an appointment to a private foundation, a higher paying job for his wife or campaign contributions."
