Sarah Paliln for RNC Chair Chatter

After news hit that Michael Steele had ‘stepped in it,’ in regards to comments he made about the war in Afghanistan, many are calling on him to resign his post as the Republican National Committee Chairman.

Personally, I take exception to what Mr. Steele said that has landed him in so much hot water. He tried to write off Afghanistan as another one of Obama’s failure’s. He said, “has he not understood that, you know, that’s the one thing you don’t do, is engage in a land war in Afghanistan? Everyone who has tried, over 1,000 years of history, has failed.“

That war is far from over and it did not start on Obama’s watch. I do not think it is productive to try to score political points off the backs of our men and women in the military, the same way the left did under Bush. The goal is to win in Afghanistan, and to win as a nation regardless of who is occupying the White House at the time....

I would approve of Sarah being the RNC hair.

Steele knew he was on the way out - he just expedited the process. This is a deliberate ‘stepping in it’.

The RNC chair is not a path to the Oval Office.

Personally, I don’t want Gov. Palin tarred with the brush of being officially a Republican Party official. I like her level of TEA Party INDEPENDENCE.

Currently she doesn’t have to toe the line, and I don’t want her tainted by the RINOs.

I think she has more power and positive influence on the outside than she would on the inside.

That could actually be a good place for her. It would certainly improve the fund raising aspect, and bring back those of us in the “I’m never giving another dime to you idiots” crowd. It would prompt the left to make even more unhinged attacks and further expose themselves. It would get her on the Sunday shows in an official role, where she would chew up and spit out her counterpart. It would rid us of the moron Steele. It would make all our lives more interesting...

That is the problem today, GOP lets people like Steele stay and say the things he does, denigrating his own party. It shows Repulicans for the cowards they are. They don’t stand for anything. How can they stand up to this frightful, huge socialist machine if they can’t even stand up to their own party leader. We have got to start standing up and not putting up.

What's your point?

The path to rescue this country (if such a path exists) is outside of the established order. No RNC chair can help us. If Palin tries that (and I don't think she will) she will become associated with country club Republicans, establishment elites, she will be "all about the money" and she will be a bureaucrat, not a leader.

She's smart enough to avoid this.

This is a deliberate ‘stepping in it’.

He could have found a SMARTER way to do it...his kind of stupid can't be fixed!

IIRC, GHWB was RNC chair...early on.

I don’t think it was deliberate. Steele is an AA hack, not qualified, and let slip the fact that he does not reason out what he says very well. Either that, or he is another mole that has co-opted a leadership position in the GOP.

The actual idea he expressed is a common democrat/leftist/defeatist talking point. Nothing the man does benefits the GOP, just as nothing Obama does benefits the USA.

Steele is worse than useless.

I agree.
Palin might be just the person to provide the superior vision we need to knock back Obama and company.
November is looming. So far, I haven't heard anything from Steele in this regard.

I think Liz Cheney would be excellent...she’s smart, informed, and has excellent verbal skills....and the Dems hate her because of her name!

You're giving him way too much credit.

It would certainly improve the fund raising aspect, and bring back those of us in the “I’m never giving another dime to you idiots” crowd.

Why? Just because the RNC would now have an effective chair, that doesn't mean things would change much as far as the party hacks go. We'd still have the same RINO politicians. All this would do would effectively bottle her up from future aspirations. And I still wouldn't give to the RNC. I don't give because of who's in charge. I give because of who they support for nominations.
