You’ve Griped Enough Now Get Off Your Duff!

This has become a hot political climate. We are seeing advances towards socialism and outright communism every day in our country. It leaves one feeling stunned and useless. In the evenings we put the kids to bed and turn on our televisions and what we see happening to our country each night on the news leaves us angry, frustrated and disheartened. The country that we love, that we have always felt such pride in has been taken over by a gang of thugs. They don’t play by the rules, they don’t live by the laws, they treat our precious Constitution as if it were their puppie’s pee-pad.

They have blatant disrespect and disregard for our history, our Founding Father’s intentions, and even the incredible men and women who serve so bravely in our armed forces. They can’t shove their legislation through with votes so they hijack our court system at each opportunity and pass their morally void referrendum’s through liberal judges.

We gripe to our friends, we vent through Facebook and Twitter, we send forwards by the dozens each week because we want to make sure others are seeing what we are seeing. We shake our fists at the sky and may even argue with liberal friends over policy. We spend time and useless energy in activities that allow us to vent our frustrations and temporarily feel better but won’t ever make a huge difference. In the end, we only participate in the one small activity that can make any difference… we show up at our polling spot and we pull the lever on our candidates and propositions- one man, one vote. (That is, unless you are a Democrat!)

Very few people will actually involve themselves in activities before that crucial moment of voting that makes a difference in their communities, their politics, their families and their lives. And I’ve come to the conclusion that it is usually either because people are just too lazy or they just don’t know what to do or how to get involved.

I’m going to assume that those reading this article feel these familiar frustrations and can identify and perhaps you’ve often had a passing conviction to get more involved but you simply just don’t know how. I’d like to provide for you several opportunities, ideas and avenues for you to explore over the next several weeks and urge you to take action. Quit griping and get involved! Griping won’t solve the problem. It will temporarily relieve your frustration but in the end won’t make a difference to anything.

1. Become a Voter Registrar in your county. This is so simple, so easy! Conservatives are the silent majority in this country. We are the sleeping giant and we are being roused out of our sleep more than ever before. But too many people wake up the day before it’s time to go vote and realize that they haven’t registered, or they moved and didn’t re-register in their new precinct or district. You come across these people everyday in conversations—wouldn’t it be nice to be able to help them register to vote yourself?

A volunteer deputy registrar may distribute and accept applications from voters. You need to contact the Voter Registrar in your county and they will send you an application.

2. Begin thinking of the most likely venues to register Conservative voters. Perhaps organizing a voters drive at your church or other churches in your areas, at Tea Party events, or private schools and colleges. Get together with a few likeminded friends and get a few of these started asap!

3. Get involved in campaigns! November is looming fast! There are many seats in your area that are going to be close, they will be fighting hard for a win, and they need any and everybody to assist. Many of them operate on a completely volunteer basis and are so grateful for any assistance that you can give. I love to go up and give a few hours of my time as often as possible when our headquarters opens up each election season. Whether it’s to answer phones, make calls to remind people to vote. Google your county GOP (for example www.FBCGOP.org) and see if they have a website with contact info. Get an email or a phone number and start asking questions on where help is needed the most!

4. Find the Republican Party website for your particular state. For example at www.TexasGOP.org you can click on the Volunteer tab and sign up for volunteer activities. Also, Join the Republican National Committee. Explore through their website and sign up for their action committees. Many times I have obtained phone list from other states that needed help and donated my time to their campaigns from my own home.

5. Join clubs in your community such as the Young Republicans (anyone 18-40 years of age). Many of these groups have Facebook pages that will keep you up to date on meetings, social gatherings and volunteer opportunities that you can participate in.

6. Go to Town Hall Meetings. These can be fascinating and it’s incredible to see your government at work. You’ll get to meet your representatives and senators. These people work for you and you need to let your voices be heard loud and clear on your will for the direction of this country.

7. Donate money. Some of you may be short on time but you believe strongly in the conservative cause. Campaigns often are run on shoe-string budgets and a $50 donation to a campaign or candidate you believe in can go a long way.

The point is this. We are all busy. We all have lives, children, spouses, full time jobs and hobbies. But these are things you can commit to for a couple of hours a week. Most importantly, learn to pay it forward by recruiting a handful of friends to jump on board with you. If we each recruit a few and teach them to recruit a few this grassroots fire can turn into a momentum that cannot be stopped. This election season is vital. So, quit JUST griping about it. Put your activity where your mouth is and get involved on some level!

Good sentiments, but there are a bunch here who are more into whining about how the Republicans will find a way to fail, don’t want to win, and even if they win, will fail.

You are absolutely right. But the Republican Party is full of a majority who want to see a conservative platform and elected officials with backbone. We need to be louder and make sure that we hold that party accountable. If more “real Conservatives” get involved on local and state levels than ever have before, we have a chance at reclaiming conservatism.

Praise be that you finally showed up to educate folks.

All we needed was some world-class smarts like yours.

So, you’re just figuring this out about liberals? Some of us have been pointing this out for years and have been ignored by “conservatives” and “moderates”.

We must do what we can, but it is too late to head off economic collapse and massive social unrest. Unfortuantely, most people even on FR don’t really understand the evil of programs like Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, “free” public schools, etc. The Left’s strategy has been to buy off everyone with a “program”, and too many “conservatives” have gone for the bait.

Well hum-bug gunner... if you spent as much time getting involved on local levels as you do staring at your computer and posting childish replies, videos and pictures, you might actually be able to claim making a difference. But it seems that most of your day is used by sitting in front of your computer screen looking for people to constantly correct. What a difference maker you are! Why don’t use some of that energy to get involved with a few of these suggestions? It’ll do that old heart some good, I’m sure!

I am not sure who is more deserving of being ignored, the RATS or the whiners in our dugout.

I sit on boards and fight the losing fight all the time, it gets tiring constantly being the lone vote against wasteful spending and other liberal nut job ideas.

Many of the most conservative people I know are slowing buying into the environmental con job, they try and push recycling on me all the time... I try to explain to them that recycling is a joke, that it takes more oil/energy to recycle than you save... but they just don't get it. I try and explain to them that if it actually worked, you would see privately owned recycling plants popping up all over the place to get in on the greatest investment of our lifetime.... but instead you only see subsidized operations which even then usually go broke. Even ethanol is a joke, you use more oil to make a gallon of ethanol than you save, which is why ethanol will always cost more than oil. All of this environmental stuff is just feel good drivel. Hardly any of it actually DOES what it is suppose to.

grr...

And if conservatives feel that way

Why must you be a blogpimp?

You write well, you find good stuff.

You need not interject a blog between the content and the readers here.
