Democrats May Abandon Cap-And-Trade
IBD's Capital Hill ^ | 7/10/2010 | Sean Higgins

The Senate is due to outline a new energy bill next week when it returns from its July 4th recess. Cap-and-trade likely will be a minor part — if it is in there at all.

Instead the bill will focus on cleaning up after the Gulf Oil spill and promoting green energy. It may include cap-and-trade for utilities, but even that is doubtful. The transportation and manufacturing sectors seem to be off the hook.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and White House officials are focused on cobbling something together that might pass before time runs out.

Yeah, I’m sure they will — until next time they’re in town, when they pass the bill. Modus operandi. Thanks Slyscribe.

Is reality actually beginning to hit these swine?

They are just trying to lull us all into inaction. They will sneak the legislation in as an amendment to an Armed Services appropriation bill on a Saturday night around midnight and Obama will sign it before the sun comes up.

Don't let your guard down. These people are the enemy.

Just a matter of time before the Dems abandon Union Card Check too. Union bosses will realize that Barry has taken them for schmucks and that’s when the fireworks will begin.

I don't believe it.

Cap and Trade is one of the corner stones of Obama Marxist plan to kill America capitalism.

They may call it something else, but in the end it will be Cap and Trade in the language

probably more lies.

The news media told us they were going to water-down or abandon “ObamaCare” before they passed it too.

Absolutely not.

They're just planning on pushing the rest of the Commie wish-list through in the lame-duck session.

I don't believe it.

No, me neither.
This one scheme is worth literally $trillion$ of tax dollars to the Marxist scumbags and their connected friends and they do not give up on that kind of dough, ever. My eyes are open even wider now.

They may as well abandon it. They can’t even get a majority of Dems to support it.

If Congress doesn’t pass a bill, the commissars at EPA will take up the slack.

If Congress doesn’t pass a bill, the commissars at EPA will take up the slack.

Yup, exactly.

The bill will be presented as moderate to get GOP lukewarm support. The language that is most radical will be let out.

EPA lackeys will finish the job by fiat

Obama will be smiling for big ear to big ear.

Yeah, right. Just like they abandoned Obamacare in the wake of the "Massachusettes" Senate race...

Cheers!

In the Pacific WWII, the Japanese soldiers would lie down and play dead. Then they would jump up and attack from behind.

It would be good to be cautious of cap n tax as long as there is more than one liberal in Washington.

Drudge has a link to a Wall Street Journal article which directly addresses this issue -

Basically, they’ll pass any sort of energy bill at all and then take care of it in conference in the lame duck session.
