Skip to comments.FR Exclusive- Possible "Journolist" activism hit here

The year was 2004 and the campaign season was in full swing. In October, a Freeper who goes by the handle of MD4Bush began making posts on Free Republic urging Republicans to "play dirty" in the 2004 election.
Scandal ensued as it was discovered that MD4Bush was actually a Democrat operative and assistant to Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley. But this story isnt about Ryan O'Doherty, MD4Bushs Clark Kent. If you want to read that story, click here.
Instead, our journey takes us to the Washington Post reporter who just happened to stumble upon the MD4Bush posts and protected the identity of ODoherty. That reporter was Matthew Mosk.
Flash forward to 2008. Mosk once again seems to be using his journalist position to attempt to influence elections. In this case, writing false stories about John McCain.
Today, Matthew Mosk is at the ABC continuing to play journalist while instead using his position to smear Conservatives.
While Matthew Mosk has not been officially revealed as a member of the Journolist 400, his actions and history suggest at least the propensity towards journalistic activism, not just passive bias. Mosk has also been associated with many of those who have been revealed as Journolist 400 members such as David Weigel who was at the Washington Post the same time as Mosk. Most importantly to the Matthew Mosk connection, Ezra Klein of the Washington Post was one of the original Journolist members and worked in the same office with Matthew Mosk.
The tentacles reached back to the Washington Post and it seems, some of that hydra monster even impacted Free Republic.
Now is the time for Freepers to do what they do best, research. Was Matthew Mosk one of the Journolist 400? Was the MD4Bush one of the first attacks by Journolist members?
Your timeline may be off, though. IIRC, Mosk had moved on to the Washington Times by the time Klein and Weigel landed at the Post.
Also, Mosk did another Freeper stalking piece for the Post about Obama critics on FR.
Thanks, I’ll check those dates but that is still a lot of connections with similar activism.
I have been thinking we still need to be careful.... I wish there was a way to “seal the borders” here at FR... but I’m selfish that way...
Don’t you post a lot of anti-birther posts? Pro-Obama maybe?
I didn’t see that quote, do you have a link for context?
Nope, just a skeptic about everything.
too many cocktails to read tonight self ping
There you go, and it also puts Mosk at the Post in 2008.
easy to understand history on subject Journolist 101
I hear the cogs turning....MD4BUSH scandal is how I found Free Republic.
sorry that was me present time reflecting back to I believe yesterday (should not be in italics) ending a post I made about wolves in sheep clothing
July 16, 2009
Snip quote:..."I think it's true of every journalist that nothing has as much allure as covering the biggest story of the day, and this is an opportunity for me to do that," Mosk said. "I've had 10 great years at The Post, made lifelong friendships, and learned a ton. Time for a new challenge."..
You too? Hahhahha. Same. Boy, that seems like a lifetime ago.
Well this is interesting, Mosk is the journalist leading the attacks against Beck’s advertisers such as Gold Line.
Mosk is also the guy who ‘exposed’ Vitter’s affair.
...and Mosk tried to float an affair story about Michael Steele.
Just kidding....kind of....
..and Mosk was DEEP in the Danielle Allen/Obama email claims regarding Freep “Obama is a Muslim” email.
I’m a skeptic about Obama’s birth in Hawaiian hospital scenario.
Go to the Baltimore Sun's forums and ask that question.
Your existence there will be about the half-life of Darmstadtium.
A few points about this:
- Ezra Klein was the owner of Journolist, not just a member.
- There is a quite serious effort to get hold of the memberlist (I think a substantial reward is involved).
- There is at least one other list like Journolist, the Cabalist.
- There is at least one other list like Journolist but different?, in that it comprises press, officials, researchers, and law enforcement. One of the more prominent organizations on that list is the SPLC. But it contains State officials, judges, and organizations like this: http://www.irehr.org/. This list is old and has been going for at least ten years. Around 500 members.
Regarding the reward, I believe Breitbart withdrew it earlier this week. It is rumored that Tucker Carlson has a copy and that is why stuff is slowly coming out.
Here's the little turd...
Lol. Figured somebody probably had some good data :).
How long before FR found this guy out?
You know who else I think might be on the list is Radley Balko. He use to work at Reason magazine with Weigel, and often out of left field he’ll start bashing Republicans. He has been very defensive since this Journolist stuff started coming out.
bump for later
Bump for morning researchers
If only the MSM devoted 10% of the time searching Obama’s background as they do anonymous FReepers, this country would be far better off.
I’m skeptical of Obama’s contrived story, not of birthers. :D
Never heard of anything more stupid than Journolist!
Here's link to the current thread on JournoList members and their news organizations.
Ezra Klein gave Carlson access to the entire archives, so it's not just a rumor.
Follow the bouncing Mosk.. lol
