Where is a physical (graphic) map of how he would expect the national divisions to be?

Was that the theme song to a movie?

I think another big consideration is electrical power. The NIMBYs have force the power plants out of the cities, into the rural areas, and now they can be cut off. I think that’s going to be huge.

Nicely done. Hopefully this never comes to pass...but being realist, I hope that it doesn’t come to pass until my current undertaking is complete and I can relo to a safer area.

Be well.

Hmmm...would think geography would preclude many of those. Unless you live near a zoo.

Incidentally, I read the book and you want to be in the Northern Rockies quadrant.

If there's one commonality in all the civil war scenarios all over the planet it's that you do not want to wind up in a refugee camp.

Especially if there's a traitor on the way with a vial marked "YP12D"!

Bridges carry far more than vehicles. They carry pipes, electricity, and communications lines.

That is why we took out so many bridges in GW1.

Seasons in Hell is already on my reading stack from our previous conversations. Thanks. I’ll start it when I finish the 2-3 other books I have going now.

>>A dimension to this cube that I think is important and may actually set it off is the taxpayer vs. non-taxpayer.

That’s pretty much the richer - poorer axis. I think Tijeras_Slim has an interesting wrinkle on / complicating factor with that axis with his “split between those who live off the government (including bureaucrats) and those who do not (and foot the bill)”.

How that might affect things would probably depend on precipitating factors to any conflict.

If you haven’t read Orwell’s Homage to Catalonia, do so. It’s a quick read, very much on topic with this thread, and he very much lives what you are talking about in the quote copied above. Almost died from it, as a matter of fact.
