The poor, criminal and dependent ARE a market - - a big one. Some of the parts of that market are: drug dealers, a host of non-profits, grant writers, college diversity programs, bottom feeding lawyers, social workers, large foundations that use the poor to attack the middle class, people employed in useless government jobs... etc.etc. etc.
This would NOT be a war against poor inner city people. It would be a war against the machine that maintains the dependency for it's own gain.

I see the same sort of hate in conversations with Leftists on a neutral forum.
They are generally not nice people, and logic, rational thought, and recognition of reality are not their strong suits. It is an ugly, ugly thing.

Up thread somebody asked if there was a sketch of the cube, so I just drew one.
If I had to computer skills I'd make a nicer one.

...the Journolist revelations is the **hate**. The members of this private list **hate** conservatives with a white hot passion. The real story is that they would KILL us if they could. They just can't get away with it...( yet). Good point - the Journolist folks are neither poor nor dark... And they would happily use inner city people to take us out if they could - they do hate us that much. We're talking about people who brag about wanting to see Rush die in great pain. It's a sicko bunch.
I agree wintertime, it's liberal elites who are after us - not a bunch of manipulated inner city black people. The blacks will be playing the role of "pawns" - as usual...

Thanks for the ping! Being in far NW Milwaukee, I think about this quite a bit. Milwaukee is often listed as one of America’s most segregated cities and there are plenty of agitators and race hustlers in this town. Being on the edge of the city helps as there are several nearby escape routes should the need arise.

Great article. The one thing that would be new to a total breakdown of the US is the roll of WMDs in a civil war. In Iraq they used gas to wipe out hostile towns. But gas, bio and especially nukes work much better against high density cities than they do against dispersed rural communities. With 10k nukes up for grabs it would be a fair bet that at least a few would get into the hands of people crazy/ruthless enough to use them. Pop a 1.5mt bomb over New York, LA and Chicago and suddenly the numbers game being played by the progressives doesn't look so good.
That reminds me of the scenario of CWII in the John Titor story where the Russians and Red Chinese panic and nukes some of our cities and the rural, conservative side of CWII is grateful, in a way, to them for doing it.
John Titor Story
Now the libs can use BIO. They have the research labs and hospitals to deal with an outbreak. People in the hills don't. And if they come into town to get the vaccine they get captured. Come into town and go to the gulag, or die of plague out in the wilderness. All out war should scare the living heck out of anyone.
I'd say that is possible, it depends what they have that they can use. The only "good" thing about biowarfare is that is does not discriminate so it could backfire on them.

I would suggest that this would be a good starting point:

It is worth explicitly noting that the main mixing zones would seem to be in the suburbs.
I’m in Newt’s old district, the Ga 6th. North ATL ‘burbs. Very conservative, but some of your outlying groups are nearby, and it isn’t all that far to your #1 corner.

Smallpox was what I was thinking of. It is easy to produce and weaponize. The vaccine is cheap and 100% effective. But if you don't have the vaccine you are suffering 50% death rates.

All: FWIW, Matt's books are simply outstanding. They deal with CWII and many sub-issues in an incredibly realistic - and frightening fashion. I highly recommend them.
This article and Matt's conceptualized cube is outstanding. Great work.
Now, let me throw another wrinkle into the discussion. I learned this from a food-sales guy in North Carolina. It's hidden in the peacetime country is stable mode we've all been blessed with. But, when you change the rules (and war, insurrection, civil war, riots all change the rules) it becomes frighteningly obvious. The western 1/2 of the United States is far more centrally urbanized than many of us think.
The critical resource that you can't live without is water. I can see a govt. attempting to re-control seceded states in the independent minded west by controlling the water. I can see a group of secession oriented combatants using water against the urbanized western left Matt outlines in his cube.
I can also see F-18's firing guided weapons as dam busters at various reservoirs to encourage compliance amongst various western towns. The results would be disasterous.
