I Agree With Sen. Webb: It's Time to End Federal Diversity Efforts

Last week, The Wall Street Journal carried an op-ed piece written by Sen. James Webb, D-Va. "A plethora of government-enforced diversity policies have marginalized many white workers," wrote Webb. "The time has come to cease the false arguments and allow every American the benefit of a fair chance at the future."

Although the sound bite from his essay may be distressing to those traditionally underrepresented and his comments came on the heels of last week's poorly handled Shirley Sherrod incident, which illustrated a lack of diversity management in the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the White House, I think, in total, Webb's full article deserves serious discussion and consideration.

Webb is on the right track; I see that when diversity efforts are relegated to compliance, white people can be marginalized. "Diversity" and EEO ends up meaning "a program for everyone but white men."

For years I've been telling the Viscontis of the world that Affirmative Action is poisoning the future in a futile attempt to correct the past. But now when a kiddie-porn-author Senator* writes the same thing in the Wall Street Journal, this guy can suddenly see.

For reasons I cannot fathom, in Webb’s book, Lost Soldiers, he has a scene that features incestuous pedophilia. Whites have been complaining over reverse racism for years.
Being passed over because of quota’s requiring minority promotion is no fun.Promotion exams have to be especially written so as not to be discriminate to any race or gender.

All applicants for promotion have access to the same study materials, but that isn’t enough, we need special questions that will help promote certain minorities, and when even that doesnt work , they change the way the test is scored or they use oral board that is told to pick minorities. One way or the other they will meet the quota, and promote over more qialified applicants.

Webb managed to throw together a voting coalition made up of Black Democrats, white racists who usually don't even bother voting, and so-called Independents ~ through the simple expedient of having the Washington Post mount a campaign against his opponent's mother for having been Jewish during WWII.

Your comment troubles me. Webb is a decorated Marine officer, Annapolis grad and former Sec’y of the Navy; qualifications like that don’t just fall in your lap.

I’ve read about his “unusual” subject matter in his writing, but the rest of what is alleged is truly horrible.

The trends will not necessarily be maintained past the point where the welfare state collapses, which I expect to happen real soon now. It's a different game when each child needs to be fully supported by its mom without assistance.

Dream on. The welfare system will be the last thing to collapse. The next thing to go will be DOD. We will have to choose between guns and butter, just like the Brits and the Europeans did. Like them, we will choose butter to keep our welfare system going.
