High Resolution North Carolina Bill Of Rights
John Jacob H’s RKBA Commentary ^ | 08/10/10 | John Jacob H’s RKBA Commentary

For some reason, the entire RKBA Universe is focused on exactly one copy of the handwritten Bill Of Rights which, for equally mysterious reasons, has three commas in the 2nd (Fourth) Amendment.

Here is another copy of the Bill Of Rights from the same time transcribed by a different clerk who, for some reason, wrote the 2nd (Fourth) Amendment with ONE COMMA.

Can you transcribe it so we don’t have to download a 5 meg file?

At the time, use of commas was little different from the writer pausing for breath. Their exact positioning varies from copy to copy, and their usage is largely irrelevant. This issue has been thoroughly hashed and come to no meaningful conclusion - trust me.

Trust but verify.

Since the number of commas is not relevant, you will, no doubt, join Us, The Citizens, and embrace the clear, crisp ONE COMMA version over the muddy, goofy Three Comma Version and further insist all fourteen parchment versions be made available in high resolution format at the National Archives so individuals can make fully informed judgments about what is and is not important?

After all, if it makes no difference why should the most complicated version dominate over the simple version?

One Comma 2nd Amendment

Best regards,
