"Restoring Honor" event makes history: Washington rally shows power of conservatism in America

A crowd of several hundred thousand conservatives gathered in Washington yesterday to pay tribute to the sacrifice of America’s armed forces and to call for a return to America’s founding principles, in a show of strength that significantly exceeded most expectations. NBC News estimated there were around 300,000 attendees, two hundred thousand more than the 100,000 originally expected, while the event’s organisers put the figure at half a million. Whatever the final figure, this is without doubt one of the biggest rallies Washington has seen in the 21st Century. Even the leading standard bearer of the Left in the US media, The New York Times, admitted that “by any measure it was a large turnout. The crowd stretched from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument.” Or as The Washington Post put it, there was “a sea of people.”

Boosted by the presence of charismatic former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the “Restoring Honor” event organised by talk show host Glenn Beck was a huge success, and a tremendous demonstration of the power of conservatism in America today. It was all the more remarkable for the fact that this was a distinctly non-party political rally which did not feature a single serving politician. The Republican Party itself had no involvement in the proceedings. It was an impressive display by a broader conservative movement that has gained tremendous momentum over the past 18 months. Although this was not a Tea Party rally, large numbers of Tea Party supporters took part, reflecting the rise of a rapidly growing movement spurred by widespread public disillusionment with the Big Government agenda of the Obama administration.

They proved their critics spectacularly wrong. Significantly, Dr. King’s niece, Alveda King, spoke at the rally, which she described earlier as “a celebration of who we are as a nation and a chance to stop for a moment, reflect, reorganize, and re-energize. It’s a chance to think about character; both our character as a nation and our character as individuals.”

Glenn must be on cloud nine today. He did an amazing job on this project. I really have more hope for the future now than I did two years ago. Many in this country are not going to give up so easily. That is reassuring.

Although I haven’t followed this event closely, I’d have to say that it was brilliantly executed by Beck. No politicians or parties, hundreds of thousands in attendance, no violence, a King descendant anointing the event....brilliant!

We The People will not be “ruled” by Elitist, power-hungry enemies of freedom. This rally puts the enemies of America on notice that their days of rule are over. If they fail to get our message, a second message is coming on November 2nd and a bigger message will be coming in 2012.

Elitist, power-hungry, corrupt politicians in DC would be wise to order their packing boxes now and update their resumes. When updating their resumes, they can add “traitor” to their country next to their names. Their arrogant staffs can stand in unemployment lines with the rest of Americans; those being the unemployment lines created by their Messiah and their corrupt political bosses.

I have new respect for Glen Beck. I admire him for calling a rally to restore honor in America, and a call to return to God. Apparently America agrees, for they turned out by the hundreds of thousands- not 'thousands' as the state run media reported.

God knows we need to restore honor and return to God as America sinks deeper into the dark cesspool of Marxist/Muslim America that Obama is creating. Obama has gone on world tours appologizing for America, blaming her for the world's troubles, alienating our allies and promoting Islam.

America has always been there to rescue other countries from being conquered by their enemies, the first to assist other countries who have been hit by natural disasters- the bread basket and peace-keeper of the world.

America has always been the greatest country the world has ever known, and it's due to Christian and Jewish teachings. These are the principles on which America was built. There's no getting around it- as much as the America hating libs, Muslims and black radicals deny and hate that fact.

I believe by the turnout of hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans at the Beck rally that the writings on the wall for the Obama regime.

I heard the crowd described on network adio yesterday as numbering in the “ten’s of thousands” I suppose that’s true if you figure it as 50 groups of 10,000.

Not true. It only shows the power of the ratings grabber Beck. The real power of conservatism will be seen or not in November. Right now I am guessing that conservatives will be looking back at how great the rally was while Congress is still controlled by rats. JMHO.
