Right now Democrats control 26 governorships while Republicans control 24. That is almost certain to flip to the GOPs advantage after Nov. 2, probably by a wide margin.
Assuming that the Republicans are likely to flip a Democrat-held seat in a race where the GOP candidate has led in the last three polls, then they seem poised to move into governors mansions in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Making 2014 look pretty good after redistricting. Let’s see now. We wipe the floor in 2010. Beat the pants off Obama in 2012. And have controlled redistricting in almost all the big states for the 2014 election. :P
Corporations better start giving to the Republicans cause they won’t get squat from selling out to the Dems.
Add Maine to the list. The candidate is a populist businessman, a bit unpolished, but a great personal success story. Last leading in the polls in a three-person field 38/31/15.
What a half-assed, brain dead article from David Hogberg.
We could win Colorado too, if Tancredo would just choke down his ego and get out of the race.
Don’t blame Trancredo. People don’t have to vote for him. If they are that naive that they can’t see the result of a vote for Trancredo then I guess they will suffer the consequences.
32 to 18 right now.
I saw Tancredo in single digits lately.
I was about to say, why isn’t Tennessee in this list, that’s a stone cold lock for the GOP to pick up from the Dems. Then I noticed they included it later based on an alert reader’s email.
LOL! Thank you!
You can add MD to the list. It’s all on Erlich to win it back.
The author couldn't bother looking on the internet to see what states were holding elections this year.

“We can hope he backs out and endorses Maes.”
Did you see this on Maes and a potential change?:
Pressure mounting on GOP candidate Maes to withdraw from guv race (Colorado)

Hmm, first of all, I wonder why anyone would want to be governor of Illinois. What a disaster that state is! Has IL had a governor who was not a crook?
Second, I question whether the Republican will win in OK. The Dem candidate, Jari Askins, is supported by the teacher’s unions, and that is what enabled her to triumph in the primary over the trial lawyer’s candidate. In most states, the public schools are the largest employer. She will have lots of foot soldiers.
Askins would probably be considered to be a squishy moderate. (This is OK, after all.) Unfortunately, the Republican candidate, Mary Fallin, is not much different. Apparently, the OK Republican Party decided it was Mary’s turn, for some reason. She can’t talk for 5 minutes without blabbing about how difficult it was for her when she was a single mother.
One thing Jari has going against her is that she is a chunky butt. That shouldn’t be an issue in a political race, but it could be a subconscious reason for not voting for a candidate. There is a lot of fat prejudice out there.
I’m sure their debates are incredibly dull - like an argument between grits and cream of wheat. Blechh.
No, I hadn’t seen that. Thanks.
