Using Korans to generate heat. Gen. Patton pleased.
The Radio Patriot ^ | Sept. 9, 2010 | Andrea Shea King

*** Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.

After reading the Koran and observing North Africans, he wrote to his wife, "Just finished reading the Koran—a good book and interesting." Patton had a keen eye for native customs and methods, wrote knowingly of local architecture, even rated the progress of word-of-mouth rumor in Arab country at 40–60 miles a day. In spite of his regard for the Koran, he concluded, "To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammad and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. . . . Here, I think, is a text for some eloquent sermon on the virtues of Christianity."

***

Oh sweet mother of God... They burned Bibles, didn't they?

Where's our General Patton when we need him?

A Florida pastor plans to burn Korans to generate some heat, and it certainly is.

Good on him.

The Rev. Terry Jones plans the Koran burn-up to mark the anniversary of 9/11.

And no less than U.S. Army General David H. Petraeus, commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan apparently has gone flaccid, saying the burning books could endanger the lives of U.S. troops.

Gen. Petraeus said he is "very concerned" about possible repercussions of the pastor's actions.

"It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort in Afghanistan. It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems. Not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community."
What the heck kind of talk is that?  Isn't our military trained to do exactly that -- fight the bad guys?  Maybe lighting the Korans on fire will draw these miserable "peaceful religionists" out of their caves and out from under their slimy rocks so we can pick off each and every one of them and send them to their 73 virigins (I threw in an extra one for good measure).

Gen. Petraeus ought to be showing more brass ones than he's wearing on his shoulder.

He's a trained killer leading trained killers who kill criminals that threaten to blow up and burn down our cities.  They're wearing Kevlar, not knee pads.

We're fighting an enemy that is determined to conquer us, regardless of what the alleged president Muslim Obumbler wants to call it.  Look around you -- cities all over the world are ablaze, set by adherents of the "religion of peace" and yet we are appeasing them?  They want to build a freaking "mosque" at the place their own demons plowed into our buildings, killing 3,000 Americans?  And we're going to let them?

What is wrong with us?  It puts our troops in harm's way?  That's what they do!  Go into harm's way to defend and protect us.  What the hell is wrong with these people?  Now we're being cowed into not burning a book?  When they burn our bibles, step and crap on our flag, behead our fellow citizens and bomb our buildings?  Whip and stone their women, chop off hands, break spines, and commit all manner of atrocities?  And we're worried about burning their "How To" manual?

Petraeus, Obama, and all the other Bloomberg idiots talk to us like we're already slaves.  Are we? Are we slaves?  Are we going to continue letting them dictate what we will do?

At what point do we say NO?  NO MORE!  NOT ON OUR WATCH!

More than burning Korans, what's really endangering our troops? The Pentagon bureaucrats' Rules of Engagement that have hampered our warriors' ability to kill the enemy. Perhaps Petraeus should expend his energy on killing the jihadist "religion of peaceniks" instead of worrying that burning their Koran will make it worse for our troops.

Burning any book is stupid.

Being afraid of ideas is the sign of an immature mind.

Indeed! After Fallujah, how on earth could dealing with extreme Muslims (supposedly the minority in their religion) cause our troops and military members something ‘worse’ to deal with??

I agree wholeheartedly. Too much Bebelplatz about the whole thing. The proper response to bad books is to laugh at them, not burn them.

If that were the point of this demonstration, I’d agree with you. The point of this pastor seems to me to be that our leaders and the media feed us propaganda about how peaceful Islam is, in spite of evidence to the contrary. The fact that this proposed (hasn’t even happened yet) demonstration has the Muslim world and their apologists in an uproar proves the real point. That is a large and vocal contingent of Muslims are not tolerant at all of freedoms we hold, and will act disproportionately to anything they find offensive.

At this point, burning a Koran may prevent Muslims from getting burned alive by our citizenry. Muslims are THIS CLOSE to getting seized, their homes looted/burned, and either lynched or worse. When a pastor of all people wants to burn Korans and it is getting this much press, it means that something is on the verge of happening. Look at all the support he’s getting. Now people are close to going over the edge.

Burning any book is stupid. .... yep.

It's a publicity stunt. BO (and the rest of the MSM) is giving this "pastor" exactly what he wants.

Just watched Patton, George C Scott, again this week. The last time I saw it I was a kid and missed most of the point. This time, it was a study in character, both of Patton and the politicians of the day.

“burning books could endanger the lives of U.S. troops. “

How? Are the troops going to put their hands in the fire and pick up burning books and pass them around?

Oh. He means that the reactions of unstable savages to the book burnings could endanger the lives of US troops. He was afraid to say who was going to be doing the endangering. Afraid to say who really is the danger. Afraid he’s be fired for saying that angry, hate filled savages are looking for an excuse to kill Americans.

For the record - don’t burn the book.

It endangers our troops because towns/villages currently considered to be ‘friendly’ will likely become considerably less so after this stunt. The villagers don’t need to join al Qaeda to make life more difficult for our guys; they just need to stop cooperating.

When this happens, we should just leave.

I am starting to agree. If something like this is all it takes then yes, let’s leave, we cannot win and we really do have no business being over there because we have already lost.

“When this happens, we should just leave.”

Why wait? We’re going to leave anyway. Does anyone think a stable, non-primitive society is going to be left behind?
They’ll be back at each others throats before the last convoy hits the border.
There is an enormous, and difficult to understand, faith in nation building around here.

Pastor Jones seems like a publicity hound, like his friend Fred Phelps. Burning a Koran won't HELP anyone, it will only generate lots of news stories so Pastor Jones can get his face on TV.

I'd be curious to hear from any of the families of those killed on 9/11, to get their opinion on whether or not this book burning is a fitting memorial to their loved ones.

Exactly, and they hear the news, as well, even if it's from Al Jazeera, so they know what's going on.

*********************************************************

Think of it as a line in the sand... these people are thugs and sooner or later we must raze every mosque and xxxx every adult male Islamist that resides here .. It’s the only way ... we can’t have a competing government and legal structure within the gates... Islam is not a religon any more than Scientology is. They are dangerous , cannot be reasoned with and will not go away willingly. The word “Islam” means peace but in their dictionary it means what we would call submission... Islam isn’t just a blueprint for conquering the world and making us submit (ie. attain “peace”) , it places it’s practitioners (especially women) under the same brutal laws.

General Patton would know what needs to be done ... and this Kenyan in the White Hut may push us right up to the point that we must act. I say that because Islam and Obama share similar goals of an autocratic/socialist , “constitution free” USA.

Oh, and as far as I could glean from Gen. Patton’s comments, he may not have thought much of Islam, but he didn’t say anything about burning the Koran.

This has zero to do with burning a book.

It has everything to do with demonstrating, once and for all, to the entire world, that Islam is NOT a religion of peace.

Were it so, this pastor, while being unpopular, would not be in any danger whatsoever. Nor would our troops.

This pastor is separating the quislings from those who recognize that we are already in a battle, whether we wanted to be or not.

This pastor is a genius, in my opinion.

"Being afraid of ideas is the sign of an immature mind."

Shouting "fire" in a crowded place is an 'idea' applied to action.

"Kill all the Jews" was an 'idea' that became action.

"Blacks are inferior to whites" was an idea that became laws & action.

Very often ideas lead to action. Ideas as well as actions can be evil. Evil ideas should be stopped before they become evil actions. Far fewer casualties that way.

The Koran is a book containing ideas AND calls to action. Some of these ideas are of a strictly religious nature. Many more of these ideas are overtly political and call for the overthrow of everything that forms the foundation of American society & government.

The Koran calls for the violent overthrow of non-Muslim culture and government. The Mosque promulgates these ideas, trains its members adhere to them and probably serves as armories for their soldiers.
