Last Friday, Congressman Zoe Lofgren, chairman of the immigration subcommittee, invited comedian Stephen Colbert to Congress to testify on the subject of illegal immigration.
Colbert testified in character, a parody of Fox News Bill O'Reilly.
Nancy Pelosi said, "It can bring attention to an important issue like immigration. I think its great.
Steny Hoyer thinks Colbert was an embarrassment. Not to Congress, but to himself.
Here's my take:

True, illegal immigration is not a joke. It is the most important tool for democrats to seize a permanent majority.
So why didn’t the Republicans want to address it in their “Pledge”? Because too many Republicans are hypocritically in favor of it, or are in hock to the money changers like the Chamber of Commerce who want the cheap labor, the country be damned.
(Oh, yeah, they mentioned something about securing the borders, but that’s what we heard from Chertoff, Bush, and Rove, back in 2006/7 when the Tea Party really got started with the massive uprising against the “bipartisan” amnesty plan.)
Only someone with a sense of their own humanity can be embarrassed. Colbert doesn't qualify.
The one who should be embarrassed is the member of Congress who invited him to appear before a U.S. Congressional Committee.
Colbert's testimony had nothing, zero, nada to do with immigration, legal or illegal. it had everything to do with distracting attention FROM the Civil Rights Commission hearing about the Dept. of just-us’s handling of the NBP case.
