Good News on Natural Gas Threatened by Regulatory Overreach
Michigan Capitol Confidential ^ | 10/27/2010 | Jack McHugh

"Hydraulic fracturing" or "fracking" is a new natural gas extraction technnique that promises to revolutionize America's energy future. Until just a couple years ago gas reserves had been falling here and the country was on track to becoming a net importer. Almost overnight the new method has miraculously turned that around, and now reserves of this clean-burning fuel are projected to cover current consumption levels for as much as a century. This is truly fabulous news for our nation.

How disappointing then to see an amendment to flat-out ban the new technology getting 16 Democratic "yes" votes in a party-line vote in the state Senate last month...

I guess Michigan doesn’t need the jobs. I deal with a lot of the Marcellus Shale sites in Western PA and they can’t get enough employees right now. They run ads constantly for workers.

Yes indeed, witnessing treasonous acts being committed by your elected and trusted public representatives is always disappointing!

“Nevertheless, it is disappointing that not one savvy Democrat - including ones generally considered “moderate” rather than anti-business or anti-energy - recognized this outright ban proposal as extremist.”

Did he mean “sappy Democrat”? Michigan better make the best of this window of opportunity to develop their gas resources before they build the Alaska gas pipeline. When they get that pipeline in there will be trillions of cubic feet of natural gas flooding the market and the drilling industry will be put on the back burner.

yEP---SEEN THIS bs IN NY (OUTRIGHT MORATORIUM) WHILE PA IS MAKING BILLIONS. tOTALLY DISAGREE WITH THE AUTHOR'S CONTENTION THAT BIG ENERGY COMPANIES ARE PUSHING THE STRICT REGULATIONS TO DRIVE OUT COMPETITORS.

Opps---capslock stuck----but I'll continue.

I have been actively participating in this technology (horizontal drilling/hydraulic fraCturing) for a long time (years). NEVER have I seen any large oil & gas company support tighter regulations.

What everybody needs to learn first of all is how to shorten the word fracture to FRAC not frack.

Try doing that with struckture, strickt, constrickt, construckt, so on and so forth. These people doing that look like friggin IDIOTS.

Please remove me from your silly BLOG ping list! I never ask to be on it and am tired of dozens of pings a day to stories that will go to ‘Blog Hell’ and never get more than a couple comments.

Why don’t you find a new site to pimp your blog?

I work in the O&G industry...we have companies BEGGING for meetings with our sales folks just to get in line for a future frac date.

We are ramping up for heavy activity in The Eagle Ford Shale.

WE CAN NOT build frac pumps fast enough and have them in the field for the demand we see right now.

Companies now are willing to CONTRACT a dedicated unit and crew for a year, basically pay to play...a YEAR out, they will contract equipment that we haven’t received yet.

Marcellus alone will take the democrat state of Pennsylvania and will flip and keep it as a republican state for many years to come thanks to the O&G and frac business.

NY state has the same (Marcellus) plays, however they are like California and too damn dumb to capitalize on their state’s natural resources.
